The final build of macOS High Sierra is finally ready for prime time.

This morning Apple released the GM build of its next big update for Macs allowing registered developers and members of the public beta testing to install the software ahead of its public launch.

Public testers and developers can grab the macOS High Sierra GM by going to the Software Update option in the Apple menu on your Mac if you have the previous build installed. It can also be downloaded directly from Apple’s developer portal.

macOS High Sierra is slated for public release on September 25. The new huge software update brings a bunch of new features and improvements to the Mac.

Among the biggest user-facing changes are a revamped Photos app with better editing tools, improved filters, Live Photo editing and easier organization options. Siri sounds more natural than ever and is smarter too. Spotlight also is set to receive some updates that make it more useful for finding things like flight times and maps.

macOS High Sierra also brings the more secure Apple File System to the Mac. It adds better encryption and makes moving files around faster. Apple is also replacing the H.264 video codec with HEVC which brings better quality photos and videos in a smaller footprint.

So far, I haven’t been able to download the GM version. The developer page reports the build number as 17A362a, but the only thing that will install is beta 9, build 17A360a.

Same for me, I am on the public beta and though i’ve read multiple reports today that the GM seed is available for public beta testers as well, it does not show up in my updates!

Download the install utility from the Developer site. Then erase the old Mac High Sierra beta app from your applications folder. Run the install utility and reboot if needed. Then you will find in the app store the new version of Mac High Sierra. Install and away you go with 362a.

Doesn’t support installation on APFS Fusion Drives. Unfortunate as the Beta worked fine on my 3 TB Fusion Drive.
