Apple’s annual Back to School promotion went live Thursday in the United States. As a part of the deal, eligible students and faculty members will receive up to a $150 gift card on the purchase of select Macs and iPads. Apple also offers a 20% discount on AppleCare+, its premium support and repair service.
The back-to-school promo runs through September 30, so students and parents have ample time to take advantage of Apple’s discounts.
Get up to a $150 gift card with your new Mac or iPad
Every year, the Apple Back to School promo gives students and teachers an extra incentive to take advantage of education pricing on hardware. This typically means gift cards. You can also get 20% off on AppleCare+ and Apple Music Student plans with free Apple TV+.
This year, you can get a $150 Apple gift card when purchasing a new iMac, MacBook Air or MacBook Pro. This includes the M2 MacBook Air, which starts at $999. Students and faculty can get it for $899 after the education pricing discount. Add the $150 gift card, and you will essentially get the Air for $749.
Apple is bundling a $100 gift card with its latest M4 iPad Pros and M2 iPad Air. Eligible buyers can also snag a $100 gift card with the M2 Mac mini.
You cannot use these gift card against your Mac or iPad purchase. But you can use it for future purchases from the Apple Store or for services like Apple Music, Apple One subscription bundles and iCloud+.
The company ran a similar promo in 2023, bundling a $150 gift card with Macs and a $100 gift card with new iPads.
Apple’s Back to School promo does not cover all its products
The Back to School promo does not cover other Apple products, such as AirPods Pro and Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro. However, you can still get an education discount on them.
Apple’s Back to School promotion varies from region to region. In Canada, the company bundles gift cards of up to CA $200. In India, you get free AirPods when purchasing select Macs or an Apple Pencil with new iPads. The promotion should expand to more countries in the coming weeks.
Admittedly, while Apple’s Back to School promo is impressive, you can get better deals on the newest Macs and iPads on Amazon and other retailers.
