Early benchmark scores for the soon-to-be-released iPad Air 5 show the tablet has approximately the same performance as the iPad Pro models that cost much more.

That’s not a surprise considering the new Air has the same M1 processor as the Pro.

The iPad Air 5 is one of the highlights of Apple’s March product event. While not a redesign, the new midrange tablet offers a faster processor, Center Stage support and other improvements.

“With the breakthrough M1 chip, Ultra Wide front camera with Center Stage, and ultra-fast 5G, iPad Air is now more powerful, more capable, and simply more fun than ever,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s head of marketing.

The next-generation iPad Air is right around the corner, according to a leak coming out of Asia. The upcoming tablet will allegedly get a better front-facing camera with support for Center Stage. And a general specs boost.

On the inside, the iPad Air 5 supposed to have much in common with the iPad mini 6.
