An AI-powered app that turns any boring photo into an art masterpiece is taking the app world by storm.

Prisma is an iOS app that not only transforms an ordinary photo into a painting, it does so in the styles of different famous artists, from Van Gogh and Picasso to Edvard Munch of “The Scream” fame.

Developed in Russia, the app is taking off like a rocket, doubling its servers, topping the charts and inspiring the #Prisma hashtag. It even counts the Russian President among its enthusiastic users.

Apple is allegedly stopping Spotify from competing with Apple Music by blocking the streaming service’s latest iOS app update from the App Store.

Spotify sent Apple’s general counsel Bruce Sewell a letter this week claiming that Cupertino is inflicting great harm on its streaming music competitor (and Spotify’s customers) by not allowing Spotify to use its own billing system for subscriptions.

You’re not alone. It appears that Apple’s servers are experiencing an outage based on user reports from Twitter that indicate the problem has been on going for over an hour.

Apple’s latest App Store guidelines again hint at the impending rebranding of OS X to “macOS.” The change is expected to become official at WWDC next week, but Apple has already updated its FAQ to remove all traces of the name.

The folks at Chick-fil-A have found a magical formula for shooting to the top of the App Store charts: free chicken.

Apple seems to be looking to improve the way people find apps in the App Store. According to unnamed sources, paid search is one way Apple might both improve discoverability as well as make some money off the feature, like Google does on its own Google Play store.

Less than a week after Reddit finally debuted its own official Reddit app for iOS, Apple has started cracking down on popular third-party Reddit clients in the App Store.

The reason? No, apparently it’s not got anything to do with Reddit pulling some strings over at Cupertino — although the timing sure makes it appear a bit suspect. Instead, it’s reportedly got everything to do with the fact that the apps allow users to access naughty pictures and other material.
