A classic vampire hunting video game series is back from the dead, and it’s only on Apple Arcade. Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls includes beloved characters but there’s new story full of side-scrolling action.
It’s joined by the release of Temple Run: Puzzle Adventure on Apple’s gaming service.
Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls resurrects a classic
This long-running series from Konami began on the original Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1986. And some earlier versions are ranked among the best video games ever made. But there hasn’t been a new installment since 2014.
Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls promises “a new original story spanning the Castlevania universe.” Dracula has been sealed away when the game begins, but rumor has it he’ll get loose if players can’t prevent it.
Play as Alucard and unlock other legendary characters such as Simon Belmont, Charlotte, Shana, Maria and more. There are character designs from Ayami Kojima and music by Michiru Yamane.
The game offers 60 levels, a wide variety of equipment, and daily and weekly missions. It has been in development since at least 2018.

And Temple Run: Puzzle Adventure, too
Fans of casual games can download Temple Run: Puzzle Adventure. It’s a match-3 puzzle game with an exploration theme.
“Assist the great adventurer, archeologist and Temple Runner Scarlett Fox as you solve puzzles to overcome the mysterious obstacles along your path,” said the developer, Scopely.
Both now on Apple Arcade
New games debut Fridays on Apple Arcade, so Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls and Temple Run: Puzzle Adventure are each ready to be downloaded from the App Store. Both new games are compatible with iPhone, Mac, iPad and Apple TV. And you can use an external game controller to hunt vampires.
Apple Arcade offers access to over 200 games for $4.99 a month. New titles are added almost every week. The next big release is Lego Star Wars Battles, which will make a landing on September 24.
