Slip an 11-inch iPad Pro into the newly announced Brydge 11 Max+ to convert it into a premium laptop. There’s a backlit keyboard, sizable trackpad and a clamshell design. The tablet is protected, but is held in with magnets so it’s easily removable.

The keyboard case is also compatible with the iPad Air 4. This is the second such peripheral Brydge has released for these two devices in recent months.

Brydge 11 Max+ has all the bells and whistles

“The new 11 Max+ targets Pro users who are looking to make the iPad Pro 11-inch their primary device, and want nothing but the best,” says Brydge.

This company has made iPad keyboards for many years but these all used clips to hold the tablet. Its newest model employs a very different design. It has a back cover that holds the iPad Pro in place with magnets. This more protective and makes inserting and removing the tablet easier.

The keyboard connects via Bluetooth 5.0, not the Smart Connector, but Brydge promises it will “connect instantly with zero lag, providing a seamless experience.” Plus, the backlit keys have three levels of brightness.

The trackpad is 4.0 inches by 2.4 inches. And it supports the native iPadOS multi-touch features.

Brydge 11 Max+ can be preordered beginning Thursday. The cost is $199.99 on the Brydge website, and shipments are scheduled to begin in September. The product comes in space grey or white.

That price puts it well below the rival Apple Magic Keyboard — the version for the 11-inch iPad Pro/iPad Air 4 is $299. Both keyboard cases have trackpads and magnetized cases.

Or there’s the Brydge Air Max+

Users of the iPad Pro 11 and iPad Air 4 might choose the Brydge Air Max+ instead. This recently launched version includes a wraparound case that offers 4-foot drop protection — not a feature of the Brydge 11 Max+.

And the company makes similar keyboard cases for other iPad models as well. Those with a 12.9-inch iPad Pro can get the Brydge 12.9 Max+. For those with a smaller tablet, the Brydge 10.2 Max+ is a rugged keyboard case for the budget iPad.
