Deliveroo, a popular online food delivery company which operates in 84 cities around the world, has come up with an ingenious idea to appeal to folks with money to spend: Deliver food to people as they queue up waiting for the next iPhone.
The service is letting people order food from relevant eateries by Deliveroo, and then have it delivered to their precise spot in the line. It’s available in a total of 12 countries. Sadly, the U.S. is not one of them!
Deliveroo is offering its iPhone spot-preserving food delivery service in Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Ireland, Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom. Customers using the app mark the location of the Apple Store they’re outside. Provided restaurants are open, Deliveroo will then bring you your food.
It’s an ingenious idea, since inevitably the sight of one person getting a delicious takeout brought to them is bound to get other folks interested in the service, too. Plus, it takes advantage of the iPhone news cycle to bring attention to Deliveroo — without it having to spend much of anything in the way of advertising. (Hey, we’re covering it, right?)
Don’t totally give up hope if you’re in the U.S., though. You could always hire a professional line sitter or even a robot to stand in place for you, and then stay home and eat whatever you want! Alternatively, you could try calling local eateries and asking if they’ll offer a similar service to Deliveroo.
