YouTuber and tech influencer Marques Browlee recognized iPhone 15 Pro as the smartphone with the best cameras of the year in his MKBHD Smartphone Awards 2023 on Tuesday, offering his highest praise for the handset’s exceptional video chops.
And that’s not all. He also named iPhone 15 Plus as the handset with the best battery experience. Watch his video below.

Tech influencer Marques Brownlee, who has 18 million subscribers on YouTube (@MKBHD), said iPhone 15 Pro offers the best overall camera experience of 2023, particularly because of its video capabilities. And he recognized iPhone 15 Plus as the smartphone with the best battery experience.
Brownlee’s MKBHD Smartphone Awards 2023 recognized top handsets from various makers in 10 categories, with Phone of the Year going to Google Pixel 8. Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra won Best Big Phone and ASUS Zenphone 10 won Best Compact Phone. And his worst phone of the year? The Saga Solana Cryptophone.
iPhone ‘still king’ of cameras and video

Brownlee praised iPhone 15 Pro’s cameras and especially its video chops:
There are some smartphones that can produce better photos than the iPhone in certain situations, but when it comes to the totality of performance across the biggest variety of situations and ease of use for photos and videos, the iPhone is still king.
Especially with a video. I feel like it’s not particularly close. The iPhone takes the best, most consistent usable videos in the biggest variety of situation by a long way. They also added log recording to the Pro iPhones this year. They can record directly to an external SSD.
Though Brownlee didn’t mention or display iPhone 15 Pro Max specifically, it’s likely he considers its cameras great and may have meant the pick to cover both Pro models.

iPhone 15 Plus wins for best battery
Brownlee also named iPhone 15 Plus as the smartphone with the best battery. He specified the award is not just about the largest capacity, but about the user experience.
“This thing just goes and goes and goes,” he said, holding up Apple’s plus-sized base handset. “The bigger battery in general has a lot to do with it. The 60Hz display also has a lot to do with it. But if you want a risk-free, no-brainer battery life, that’s definitely gonna get it done for you.”
He also gave a shout-out to the ROG Phone 7 for its large battery capacity — though he noted it lacks wireless charging — as well as the small ASUS Zenphone 10.
