The Amazon Luna cloud-gaming service will soon include the Batman: Arkham Knight, Lego DC Super-Villains and three other premium games. They will be added in April.

And this applies to more than the United States, because Amazon also announced on Wednesday that residents of Canada, the UK and Germany now have access to Luna, which means they can play console-quality games on Mac, iPad and iPhone. There are even free games for Prime members.

Batman: Arkham Knight and more set to explode onto Amazon Luna

“With Amazon Luna, we’re making gaming easier and more convenient by offering instant access to console-quality games on devices customers already own,” said Daniel Rausch, VP of Amazon Entertainment Devices and Services, in a statement.

Getting the best games for its service hasn’t been easy for Amazon, but some top-quality titles are on the way.

Batman: Arkham Knight is the third in the award-winning Arkham trilogy from Rocksteady Studios. Scarecrow has united the super criminals of Gotham to destroy the Batman. Players must become the Dark Knight as he faces the ultimate threat against the city that he is sworn to protect.

Also coming to Amazon Luna in April is a much lighter superhero offering, LEGO DC Super-Villains. The Justice League has disappeared, and players have to uncover the intentions of Earth’s new wannabe superheroes. Of course, villains like the Joker and Harley Quinn are involved.

April will bring three additional more titles to the cloud-gaming service:

  • Batora: Lost Haven
  • Endzone: A World Apart
  • Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning

A $9.99 per month Luna+ subscription will be required to play any or all of these.

The first international expansion of Amazon’s gaming service comes a year after its official debut in the United States.

“Gamers in the U.S. have been enjoying Luna for the past year so we’re thrilled to now expand the service to customers in Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom,” Rausch also said.

Benefits of cloud gaming

Few top-tier games are available for Mac, iPad or iPhone. But that doesn’t matter for cloud-gaming services like Luna and Xbox cloud — they run games on servers and then stream only the video to players’ devices. That allows marquee games originally created for Xbox, PlayStation and Windows to run on almost any Apple computer.

A game controller is recommended — Amazon offers one it makes specifically for its service, but there are other options.

With today’s expansion, residents of three European countries have access to the same Amazon Luna features Americans do. That includes enabling Prime members to play a rotating selection of games every month at no additional cost.

For access to many more games, there’s Luna+. This for-pay service offers a collection of games from across genres — action, adventure, classics, and more. That includes Batman: Arkham Knight and the other upcoming  games.

And there are other add-ons, including Ubisoft+ with games from this developer like the Assassin’s Creed series.
