Brett Goldstein, a writer on Apple TV+ comedy Ted Lasso, who also plays footballer Roy Ken, has shared a new trailer for the upcoming second season of the show on Twitter.

The trailer for the second season comes one month ahead of its July 23 launch. Set to the strains of David Bowie and Queen’s “Under Pressure,” the trailer suggests the laughs — and surprisingly uplifting drama — will continue for another crop of episodes. Check it out below.

It’s coming home…

The new season will, once again, feature Jason Sudeikis playing the titular football underdog coach as he tries his darnedest to take AFC Richmond to the top of the Premier League.

While Apple has yet to reveal exact viewing figures, it seems likely that Ted Lasso has been one of the biggest successes for Apple’s streaming TV service. On Rotten Tomatoes, the show has a critical score of 91%, based on 65 reviews. its audience score, meanwhile, is 97%, based on 678 reviews. The series also earned Apple its first Golden Globes win, while it picked up a hat trick of awards at the 2021 Critics’ Choice Awards.

Apple showed off its first trailer for Ted Lasso season two at the company’s Spring Loaded event in April. While I found it amusing, not all reactions were quite so positive. Cult of Mac publisher Leander Kahney wrote that the trailer bombed, with none of the jokes landing for him.

For my money, this latest trailer is a lot better. The rom-communism joke in particular tickled me. Trailers for comedies are always tough, but this one certainly does enough to make me want to see the show when it lands.

If you’ve not yet seen Ted Lasso, you can check out the full season now on Apple TV+. A third season is already in the works.
