The Christmas season is in full swing and there’s good news for fans of the Peanuts holiday specials. Apple has arranged for A Charlie Brown Christmas to be broadcast on PBS. And it’s already available to Apple TV+ subscribers.
That gives many opportunities to watch Linus teach his friends what Christmas is all about.

How to watch the Peanuts Christmas special for free
Apple TV+ owns the rights to all Peanuts holiday specials. But it made a deal with PBS to broadcast the Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas installments in 2021.
PBS and PBS KIDS will play A Charlie Brown Christmas on Sunday, December 19 at 7:30 p.m. ET/6:30 CT. Check your local listings for exact availability. This will be even better than when the special used to be on CBS (and later ABC) because it will be broadcast without commercial interruption.
But the holiday show isn’t available for streaming on the PBS App.
Or watch it on Apple TV+
Apple TV+ subscribers can watch a sad little tree get magically transformed at any time, as it is available now. The same goes for the Peanuts Halloween and Thanksgiving specials.
The upcoming one finds Charlie Brown feeling down about the commercialism of Christmas, and becoming the director of the gang’s holiday play as a way to get into the holiday spirit. Can he overcome his friends’ preference for dancing over acting, find the “perfect” tree, and discover the true meaning of Christmas?
The special is joined by It’s Christmastime Again, Charlie Brown, a collection of holiday-themed vignettes. This is also already streaming on Apple TV+.
Of course, watching these requires a $4.99-a-month subscription to Apple’s streaming video service.
Buy A Charlie Brown Christmas on DVD
Those who want anytime access to the Peanuts Christmas special and don’t want to subscribe to Apple TV+ can buy the DVD. It’s available for under $12.

And get ready for New Year’s Eve with the Peanuts gang
Apple isn’t settling for streaming classic holiday specials starring Charlie Brown and friends. It’s working with WildBrain’s animation studio on creating new adventures for the gang. That includes the first new Peanuts holiday special from the collaboration, set to premiere Friday, December 10, 2021. It’ll be called For Auld Lang Syne and will, unsurprisingly, celebrate New Year’s Eve.
Beyond holiday specials, Apple TV+ offers The Snoopy Show starring the irrepressible beagle — a series that has a 100% critics approval score on Rotten Tomatoes. There’s also an educational show called Snoopy in Space.
