Hip hop luminary Lil Wayne, one of the most well-known and respected rappers of the 21st century, is headed to Apple Music!

No, Lil Wayne (or Weezy F. Baby as the kids call him) isn’t debuting an exclusive new album on Apple’s streaming music service. Instead, he’ll be playing host on Young Money Radio, a new show debuting on Beats 1 Friday, April 24 at 7pm EST/4pm PT.

The rap superstar shared details of the new radio show, named after his label Young Money Entertainment, on Instagram. “I’ll have heavyweights calling in discussing sports, music, comedy… everything,” he wrote. While he doesn’t mention any names, Lil Wayne certainly has enough of a Rolodex to call in some pretty big favors in terms of guest for his hosting debut.

The first episode of Young Money Radio will simulcast on Instagram Live and Beats 1. It will then jump over exclusively to Apple Music after the “first few minutes” of broadcasting.

Apple Music and Lil Wayne go way back

This isn’t the first Lil Wayne-related exclusive Apple Music has pulled off. Back in 2016, Apple released documentary The Cash Money Story on Apple Music. The documentary tells the story of hip hop record label Cash Money Records, which first introduced the world to Lil Wayne.

While Apple Music continues to go from strength to strength, less is heard about Beats 1. Nonetheless, the radio station — which is free to listeners even if they’re not subscribers to Apple Music — attracts some pretty big names.

Beats 1 is particularly good if you’re a hip-hop fan, being skewed in favor of that genre. Now, with Lil Wayne’s arrival, fans have one more reason to tune in.

Are you an avid listener to Beats 1? What are your favorite shows on the station? And will you be tuning in for episode one of Young Money Radio? Let us know your thoughts and weekly recommendations in the comments section below.
