Lots of great iOS 13 apps this week.

This week we get grooving with EG Pulse, take control of Mission Control, drag stuff around with Yoink, and wonder why we need Pocket Casts.

Read all about the best new and updated apps in this week’s roundup.

Mission Control Plus

Mission Control Plus turns the Mac’s Mission Control view and makes it way more useful. With the app installed (it requires Mojave or newer), all the window thumbnails in Mission control get a little X icon in the top left corner, allowing you to close the window from right there.

You can also use keyboard shortcuts on highlighted windows: Close, open, and minimize window, or even quit the app. It puts the “control” into Mission Control.

EG Pulse

Drums, and samples.
Drums, and samples.

EG Pulse is a brand-new iOS drum machine. The focus is on being quick to use. You can drag samples onto the drum pads from the Files app (in split view of slide over), you can automate volume, pan, pitch, and probability by dragging a finger, and you can throw together multiple drum patterns on the fly.

But it’s also deep, with sample-editing, effects, and more. And because it supports pitch, and uses samples, you can drop any sound in there, not just drums.

Price: $13.99

Yoink – Improved Drag and Drop

Yoink is a shelf app for iOS and Mac. And the latest version is fully iOS 13 compatible. It adds a slew of new shortcuts, so you can automate all kinds of actions. Plus, it supports Dark Mode, uses contextual menus and Quick Look, and integrates much better with the Files app. It really is essential. After Safari, it may be the most-used app on my iPad.

Price: $5.99

The latest Pocket Casts podcasting app is now free. It was bought out by NPR, and now no longer costs $4. There’s also a new Pro subscription tier, for 0.99 cents per month, or $10 per year, but you don’t get much extra — some color theming options, access to the desktop apps, and cloud storage for creators.
