We might know when Apple’s AirPower charger will land

A Best Buy employee has revealed Apple’s launch plans for AirPower and its new AirPods case with wireless charging. It seems the lengthy wait for these accessories is almost over.

Unveiled alongside the latest iPhones in September, AirPower allows you to charge all your wireless devices simultaneously. It can power up an iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods all at the same time, and it uses the Qi charging standard that is most common among phones and tablets.

AirPower could be arriving soon

Apple warned AirPower wouldn’t be available until this year, but it has been quiet about its launch plans since. Now a Best Buy employee has told The Apple Post that AirPower will be available in late March, alongside the new AirPods case that supports wireless charging.

“Our source reports Best Buy will begin receiving AirPower units in-store towards the end of March (likely the same time Apple begins retailing the accessory themselves), with Apple sending additional units to be used as store demos/displays,” reads the report.

The device will be available to purchase online and in-store.

Best Buy is an Authorized Apple Service Provider, so it’s certainly plausible that it knows when AirPower is launching. But an unnamed Best Buy employee provided this information, so we can’t be completely sure it’s accurate. We don’t know their track record.

“Our tipster has asked to remain anonymous, and as with any leak/insider tip it’s difficult to determine the legitimacy of the claims submitted,” notes The Apple Post.

AirPower won’t be cheap

AirPower’s price tag was previously spilled by Polish retailer X-Kom, which expects the device to be priced at 999 Złotych, or around $200 in the United States. It’s unclear how much the new AirPods case will cost, but it will be optional; you won’t get one free with a new pair of AirPods.

Apple is expected to unveil a slew of other devices in March, including a new iPhone, iPad, and MacBook. If these claims are accurate, Apple could use the event to announce that AirPower and the AirPods wireless charging case are available.
