Love it or hate it, the LG DualUp and its odd 16:18 aspect ratio — nearly square — has found a lot of fans among Mac users, including the owner of today’s M4 Mac mini setup with dual Studio Displays.

Mac mini drives dual Studio Displays and LG DualUp monitor
The 27-inch Apple Studio Display packs an impressive panel coupled with a six-speaker system and studio-quality microphones.
It’s not as beautiful as Apple's Pro Display XDR, but the Studio Display costs thousands less.
- Crystal clear 5K resolution
- Excellent color accuracy
- 12MP Center Stage camera
- Expensive
- Lacks HDR
- Height-adjustable stand costs extra
In a post titled “My new Dual Studio Display M4 Pro Mac mini Set Up,” Redditor whitebronco93 (“Bronc”) showed off the M4 Pro Mac mini rig with dual 27-inch Studio Displays and the square-ish 28-inch LG DualUP monitor. The three displays make an interesting formation — landscape (horizontal) in the middle and portrait (vertical) on the sides. In the photograph above, it reminds me a little of a TIE Fighter from Star Wars.
“I’ve been thinking of redoing my set up for over a year and finally bit the bullet a couple of weeks ago,” they said. “I also use an LG DualUp monitor as a third display when not working. Last photo was my previous set up.”
Why not 2 LGs instead of 2 Studio Displays?

A commenter verified that the LG sits on the left, with one Studio Monitor in the middle and a second one on the right.
“Why not save money with LG on left and right?” they asked. “I have a Studio [Display] as my main and it’s awesome.”
“I always envisioned a dual Studio Display setup,” Bronc replied. “That LG DualUp was purchased after I realized my existing ultra wide LG wouldn’t have fit on the desk lol.”
LG DualUp features
The LG DualUp has been an interesting option since it first came out in June 2022, with it bizarre, nearly square 16:18 aspect ratio (as opposed to the more typical 16:9).
“Free up desk space and multitask more efficiently with a new, 16:18 aspect ratio stacked setup that swivels, freeing up your desk without giving up the screen space of a double monitor,” the company said. And people are buying the 2560 x 2880p SDQHD resolution Nano IPS display, which delivers 90W of power via USB-C to a laptop and comes with LG’s Ergo Stand.
NuPhy mechanical keyboard

Another cool element in the setup is the NuPhy Air75v2 mechanical keyboard, which several commenters asked about. It’s a popular choice among mechanical keyboard aficionados, and not a cheap one, at around $150.
But one poster found several links and added them, each to a post talking about swollen batteries and battery fires with the keyboard. It’s the first I’ve seen any indication of that.
“I had the keyboard but I put it away because I don’t want it to burn my apartment down when I’m not there,” they added.
