Today’s M2 Max MacBook Pro setup with dual 4K LG monitors is enviable and well-situated. I say that not just because the compact workstation is cool, but because it’s in Hawaii with a dramatic view.
And the cool dinosaur wallpaper on the two 32-inch LG UltraFine 4K displays got a plenty of love from commenters, as did the Michael Scott (The Office) poster of him quoting hockey great Wayne Gretzky (“You miss 100% of the shot you don’t take.”)

Setup with M2 Max MacBook Pro and dual LG 4K monitors unleashes fearsome dinosaur wallpaper on Hawaii
This 32-inch UHD (3840 x 2160p) IPS LG Ultrafine display features HDR10 compatibility, DCI-P3 95% color gamut, AMD FreeSync, 3-side virtually borderless design and a height-adjustable stand.
- Spacious screen
- 4K (3820 x 2160p) resolution
- Height-adjustable stand
- Higher resolution displays are out there (5K)
In a post titled “Simple Setup – M2 Max,” Hawaii-based Redditor Repulsive-Host-8759 (“Rep”) showcased the compact and cool dual-display setup. Rep drives the dual 4K LG monitors with an M2 Max MacBook Pro that sits in clamshell (closed) mode in a clamp-on desk side storage tray hanging unobtrusively off to the right. It’s easy to miss in the photo. One commenter called it “genius.” At a cost of only about $20 on Amazon, it makes space on the desk while allowing the laptop to do its work just as easily as if it sat on the desk or on a stand.
This steel side-of-desk organizer is a no-drill laptop holder with a clamp and pen holder. It fits flat-edge desks and tables (0.3 inches to 2.8 inches thick).
- No drilling necessary (clamp-on)
- Includes pen holder
- Steel construction
- Not much room for more than a laptop
“I want a bigger desk, because this one is 48 inches and I’m running [32-inch] LG monitors, but it’s a standing desk on wheels so I can move it around which is nice and it’s easy since there is a single power cord,” said Rep. “Since it’s a smaller desk, I got a universal mount to keep the MacBook on the right side of the desk out of the way. Then I have it plugged into a Belkin Thunderbolt dock so it’s easy to connect to everything easily.”
But Rep added that speakers are a big problem, given the lack of space and the big monitors that would block them. So he keeps just a tiny Bluetooth speaker on the desk. When I asked about the speaker, he said he switches between a JBL Flip and a Bose SoundLink Micro.
As for the LG monitors on Ergo stand, Rep said he couldn’t recommend them enough, in part because of the useful and mobile stands.
“The Michael Scott quote is the best thing from the whole setup,” opined another commenter. Rep said he got it for $3 from Temu. It’s in the Amazon links list with the rest of the setup’s gear, below.
And are there any amateur (or professional) paleontologists out there in need of dino-wallpaper? Here it is.
