In my setups coverage across social media, I see plenty more man caves and she sheds for solitary dwelling than dual setups meant for spouses working side by side. No surprise there, right? And yet dual setups for couples pop up occasionally, like today’s double workstation with 2 MacBooks.

2 MacBooks Pro sit in side-by-side his-and-hers setups
The renewed 16-inch Apple laptop features an M3 Pro chip, 36GB RAM and 512GB SSD storage. Space black color.
Redditor Ouhei showcased the happy matrimonial double-MacBook Pro setup in a post called “Dual home office setup.” It’s not the first husband-and-wife dual workstation I’ve seen, but they seem rare. He said increased WFH led to the new office arrangement, with his-and-hers MacBook Pro setups sitting side by side next to office windows. His is an M3 Pro and hers is an M1 Pro. Both drive Studio Displays. And both laptops and both displays sit on Viozen Monitor and Laptop Mounts — an unfamiliar brand that looks affordable and efficient. Left-handed Ouhei sits on the left.
“We rearranged the room so I could see the outside world while home all day, upgraded our desk setups, and added more to our gallery wall,” he said. “I work here 4 days a week and my wife uses her side of the desk for remote tutoring and any other work she needs to get done in the evenings/on the weekends.”
Nice husband-and-wife dual setup. But does it … work?

Commenters found the symmetry of the setup impressive. The laptops, displays, mounts and desk mats are like mirror images of each other. All seems equal, if not harmonious.
“I was pretty adamant about both setups being equal,” Ouhei said. “My wife isn’t as particular as I am when it comes to these things, but at least she gets to benefit from it haha.”
But other joked about the seeming impossibility of a married couple working side by side in the same small space.
“Looks cool, but I wouldn’t be found working next to the wife,” noted a commenter.
It’s really work room shared in shifts

“We are rarely ever in there at the same time, but as long as we’re not both on calls I don’t really mind at all,” Ouhei explained.
“My wife will kick me out, she can’t hear herself think … and I’m silent,” joked another person. Husband or wife, it seems like someone would always be kicking someone out.
