Ever since Apple started them in 2008, Apple’s iPhone Tech Talk World Tours have been wildly popular with developers… little mini-WWDC’s that travel the globe where Apple reaches out to devs, answers questions and facilitates in networking with all the app makers who make iOS great.

Hot on the heels of iOS 5’s release, no surprise, then, that Apple’s launching another one. The iOS 5 Tech Talk World Tour 2011 will be held across Europe, Asia and America starting next month and continue until January in the following cities: Berlin, London, Rome, Beijing, Seoul, Sao Paolo, New York City, Seattle, and Austin, Texas.

That’s a pretty good line up of cities, making it likely a Tech Talk will be within driving distance from most devs. Even better is the price: unlike the $1599 ticket required to attend WWDC, the Tech Talks are free.

Following its unveiling at WWDC back in June, users in the U.S. have been able to enjoy the iTunes in the Cloud beta, which allows them to re-download content purchased from the iTunes Store. Users in other parts of the world were left out, and we were led to believe that iTunes in the Cloud would be U.S.-only upon its launch. Today, however, Apple is rolling out the feature internationally.

Hailed as a “kiosk killer” back when it was announced in June at WWDC, there are a few more details available now on the Newsstand app, available Oct. 12 with iOS5.

Despite Apple’s  squabbles with publishers who were complaining about selling subscriptions to digital versions on iTunes, many top titles are will be available including The New York Times, GQ, Wired, The New Yorker, Popular Science, National Geographic and Esquire.

This is a pretty nice spread of titles to start with from the dozens of global publishers who signed up for Newsstand — Hearst Corporation, Conde Nast, Disney Worldwide, Europe’s Sanoma Media and the New York Times Corp.

iPhone 4S – Looks just like the iPhone 4 but the guts have been revamped for speed. The  new A5 chip (Same chip in the iPad 2), has a dual-core CPU making it 2x as fast at CPU tasks. Graphic performance on the iPhone 4S will be Up to 7x faster in the previous iPhone. 8 hours of 3G talk time, 14 hours of 2G talk time, 6 hours on 3G browsing. Also of note, the wireless system in the phone has been updated to include two separate antenna. iPhone 4S can intelligently switch between antennas to transmit and receive. This will lead to improved call quality and 2X faster download speeds (Apple was calling it 4G speeds, but we’ll save you the debate on what is and isn’t true 4G).

Oops. It appears that Apple may have let the cat out the bag a little early with an accidental email saying “Welcome to iCloud.” As reported by AppleInsider, Apple has allegedly sent out at least one public invite to iCloud prematurely.

iCloud and iOS 5 will be officially announced to the public this Tuesday, although both products have been in beta since Apple’s WWDC conference this past Summer. These email invites will assumedly be sent out in bulk to Apple customers when iCloud launches.

It’s been a long-standing rumor that Apple will introduce Nuance speech-to-text capabilities in the public release of iOS 5. Apple partnered with the vocal technology giant known as Nuance months ago, and the two have supposedly been meeting behind closed doors to get Android-like speech-to-text integrated into iOS 5.

While this Nuance technology has yet to reveal itself in the public beta of iOS 5, a well-known App Store app is already showcasing the feature blatantly to the public.

When Apple announced iTunes Match at WWDC back in June, it was a little unclear whether the service would allow you to stream your music library to your iOS devices as opposed to storing it locally — allowing you to access your tracks without actually taking up any of your precious storage space.

Following the launch of the iTunes Match developer beta yesterday, it has been confirmed that streaming is possible with Apple’s upcoming $25/year service.

Comex, the hacker behind the latest JailbreakMe exploit — the first hack to support the iPad 2 — will soon be joining the Apple gang in Cupertino — waving goodbye to his days as an iOS jailbreaker.

When I initially stumbled across Canopy’s Kapok ($70), it seemed like a groovy idea: A case that had dedicated buttons for shooting photos and video is exactly what the iPhone needs, I thought. Plus, other app developers would be able to use Canopy’s API to add functionality to their apps through the buttons. Brilliant.

But then came the iOS 5 unveiling, with the revelation the camera app would gain its own hard button (in the form of the iPhone’s volume up button), and no other app developers have taken advantage of the kapok’s hard buttons. So is it still as shiny a toy as I’d orginally thought? Here’s what some hands-on time revealed…

Developers are now enjoying the fifth beta of Apple’s next major iOS release, but just like everything created at the Cupertino camp, we never know when an update is about to drop. Unless, of course, you go digging around in iOS files… which seemingly reveals the release date of iOS 5 beta 6.
