Apple’s car-focused tech got a nifty update at WWDC, letting users start their cars with their iPhone. Announced Monday, Apple’s new CarKey digital car keys feature will allow you to unlock and start select vehicles using NFC technology.
Emily Schubert, Apple’s Engineering Manager for Car Experience showed off the feature, which promises to revolutionize the way you start your vehicle for the 21st century.

Apple’s “foldable” iPhone will use dual displays to get around the foldable screen problem that plagues other folding phones like Samsung’s beleaguered Galaxy Fold, claims Apple leaker Jon Prosser.
“The current prototype has two separate display panels on a hinge,” Prosser wrote in a tweet Monday. He claims the foldable iPhone prototype boasts “round, stainless steel edges like current iPhone 11 design” and features no notch. Instead, there is a “tiny forehead” on the outer display that houses the Face ID sensors.
Social distancing and group selfies don’t mix. But Apple might have a solution: the synthetic group selfie. Photo: Apple
Even in the age of social distancing, the group selfie doesn’t have to be an endangered species. For several years, Apple has been investigating automatically merging multiple images into a group selfie.
And now that the company has a patent on the idea, it could be part of iOS 14 or a later version.

A concept artist proposes Apple make a sliding iPhone, not a folding one. The iPhone Slide Pro boasts a second touchscreen that hides behind the primary one.

Future AirPods could boast ambient light sensors that track users’ heart rate, head movements and steps taken, Digitimes claimed Monday.
The report says the new health-tracking tech might find its way into Apple’s AirPods in the “coming 1-2” years. The feature reportedly will enable the ultra-popular wireless earbuds to track various activities and potentially monitor certain health conditions.
Apple is planning special edition AR glasses modeled on the specs Steve Jobs wore. Photo: Sebastian Errazuriz
Apple is working on a special pair of AR glasses that resemble the spectacles Steve Jobs famously wore, white-hot Apple leaker Jon Prosser told Cult of Mac.
Called the “Steve Jobs Heritage Edition,” this limited-edition version of Apple Glass would be round like a classic pair of John Lennon-style glasses. Cupertino would position it as a special edition of the core AR glasses, much like the original $10,000 gold Apple Watch.

Apple hasn’t changed the physical design of its regular iMac in years — but that’s not enough to stop Apple fans dreaming up drool-inducing concepts.
The latest is from Kevin Kal, a 20-year-old engineering student in Paris, France. (Who, by my count, would have been in middle school the last time Apple changed up the iMac design.) His concept for the iMac boasts a slimmer bezel and chin, Face ID camera, and a next-gen trackpad that also charges your iPhone. Check it out below.

Far from resting on its laurels, Apple continues to look for innovative features to build into MacBooks. A patent awarded Tuesday shows the company is considering making the trackpad virtual, so it can be positioned wherever the user likes.
And a second patent goes even further, making the keyboard and the area around it touch-sensitive.

Renowned Apple leaker Jon Prosser unloaded a shedload of information Tuesday about Apple’s rumored augmented reality glasses, which he claims will be called Apple Glass. In a packed new video, Prosser says Apple plans to show off the AR specs as a “one more thing” reveal at a keynote as soon as late 2020.
The glasses will cost $499 (plus prescription if needed), will display info on the inside of both lenses, and will operate via gesture controls, Prosser says. He also claims to have seen a prototype of the long-rumored device.
