The Rolling Square Pocket Travel Charger should make you forget that bulky international charger you used to carry. It offers the plugs needed to juice up your Apple gear in over 200 countries, but is about the same size as single-country chargers… and smaller than many of those.

One version includes a 30W USB-C port, while a second puts out 20W via a USB-C or a USB-A port.

I tested this accessory to be sure it deserves a spot in your luggage.

Say goodbye to bulky international chargers. Compact but powerful, the Rolling Square Pocket Travel Charger is the perfect travel companion.

Pros:
  • Very portable
  • Useful in 200 countries
Cons:
  • Power for one device at a time

For a decade or so, I used an intentional travel charger on multiple trips to Europe and Asia, and it always kept my computers going. I still keep it in my luggage, but it’s getting replaced. It’s almost the size of my fist and includes only a single USB-A port capable of a mere 5 watts. That was fine in 2012, but not anymore.

The Rolling Square Pocket Travel Charger is about a quarter the size, but pumps out six times the wattage. And it’s ready for the United States, European Union, United Kingdom, Australia and more. Lots more.

A surprisingly small international charger

The charger lives up to its name — the device really is pocket-sized. The version I tested measures 2.8 inches by 1.25 inches by 0.8 inches without the many power prongs extended.

Speaking of which, the various prongs slide out of one end of the Rolling Square Pocket Travel Charger. Push a slider on the bottom to bring out the Type A prongs for the U.S. as well as Canada, Mexico, Japan and more.

These same prongs rotate slightly to become Type I for use in Australia, New Zealand and parts of China and more.

Push on a pair of sliders located on the sides of the travel charger to bring out a pair of prongs in the Type C configuration for the European Union.

A fold-out third prong forms the Type G configuration for the U.K., Ireland and more.

I’m not going to provide a full list of countries for each type. That would be a very unwieldy mass of names — the device works in 200 countries after all.

I own a power adapter for plugs from around the globe. It let me test the designs of Pocket Travel Charger’s Type C, Type G, etc. plugs, and all passed with flying colors.

The accessory can handle power coming in from 100V to 240V. That means it’s safe to plug into wall outlets in hotels and offices anywhere on the planet.

Single or double USB ports

The version of the Rolling Square Pocket Travel Charger I tested includes a single USB-C port on the opposite end from all the power prongs. This version is the best fit for Apple users, as Apple standardized on USB-C. Its weakness is the single charging port. You’ll need to keep switching your cable around to juice up multiple devices.

Alternatively, there’s also a version of the product with both USB-C and a USB-A port. But take note: these top out at 20W total. Also, this version is a bit bulkier.

30W of international power

To confirm Rolling Square’s promises, I tested the Pocket Travel Charger with several of my devices.

As noted, I have the 30W version, and it sent the full 30W to an external battery that can handle that much wattage.

I also tested it with my iPhone 16, and the charger sends 28W to this handset. That’s the maximum it can take. It also sent 28W to my iPad Pro.

Obviously, 30W is more than enough for an iPhone, and it’s plenty for an iPad. And it’s not bad for a MacBook, though many Apple notebooks can handle a lot more juice.

Rolling Square Pocket Travel Charger final thoughts

I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that space is at a premium when traveling, which is why I rejoice that I can leave my bulky international travel charger behind the next time I head out of the United States. This one from Rolling Square is small enough to go permanently in my gear bag and get used wherever I go. And “wherever I go” can include over 200 countries.

★★★★

That said, there’s only one USB-C port, so you might need two of the gizmos if you travel with a lot of gear.

Pricing

Rolling Square Pocket Travel Charger costs $29.90. And that’s true whether you choose the version I tested with a single 30W USB-C port, or the 20W version with USB-C and USB-A ports.
