The Cuktech 30 Power Bank is a well-built beast capable of charging five devices at once (20W wireless charging panel on top plus two USB-C and two USB-A ports). Unboxing it and noticing its heft, I thought, what, is it made of plutonium? No, it’s just impossible to make such a powerful power bank and charger small and light. I probably wouldn’t haul it on a long trip, but road warriors with crucial work to do en route just might. And it’s useful around the home or office.

The power bank packs a 40,000 milliamp hour (mAh) battery. For perspective, an iPhone 16 Pro Max carries a 4,685mAh battery and a 16-inch M4 Max MacBook Pro fits in an 8,693mAh battery. Lots of power banks store around 20,000mAh. The Cuktech 30 can fast charge at up to 140 watts and puts out a total of 300W of charging power to devices. Because of its size and weight, it pushes the limit on portability, but it’s technically portable (with a handy handle).

Unique features: More than just a battery

What truly sets the Cuktech 30 apart are cool and somewhat unusual features:

Multi-device charging: With its high output and multiple ports, you can charge up to five devices at once. This is perfect for group outings or tech-heavy workdays. It easily charged each of my small devices multiple times: iPad Air 5, iPhone 16 Pro, AirPods Pro and various USB devices, like an air quality monitor.

Hub mode. This allowed me use the power bank’s USB-A ports as a USB hub. I could connect peripherals like a mouse or external hard drive to my MacBook Pro by plugging the power bank into the laptop via USB-C, charging the peripherals while in use. It also functions as a low-current charging mode for more delicate devices like AirPods and Apple Watch.

Intelligent display: The built-in TFT screen provides real-time information on charging status, remaining battery life and output power. This level of detail is rare in power banks and quite useful. I found it good to know it does what it claims and convenient to know when I should recharge it.

Advanced cooling system: The power bank incorporates PWM fan technology that adjusts based on the device’s temperature, ensuring solid performance and, hopefully, long life.

Airline approved: Despite its high capacity, Cuktech 30 is designed to be airline-friendly, according to Cuktech. The company suggests you check with the airline before you bring it onboard, however.

Bidirectional fast charging: Not only can it charge your devices quickly, but it can also recharge itself at impressive speeds (up to 140W), minimizing downtime.

Practical uses: A reliable companion

Travel performance

During business trips, the Cuktech 30 could prove its worth — if you’re willing to carry it. It can easily keep a laptop, smartphone and tablet charged over the course of a long travel day. Its ability to charge multiple devices simultaneously could be a game-changer in airport lounges with limited power outlets. But you can’t just put the bank in your pocket or slip it into in a sleeve with your laptop. You need a bag a few inches wide and deep enough to fit it with out gear, or else you carry it by its handle.

Outdoor activities

On something like a weekend camping trip, the power bank’s high capacity can shine. It powers items like portable LED lights, smartphones for emergency use and even small drones for aerial photography. The built-in handle makes it easy to carry, and it’s built pretty tough.

Emergency situations

During an unexpected power outage, the Cuktech 30 might become a lifeline. Its high capacity allows essential device charging for around 48 hours. And if you can’t find a charging cable in the dark, the wireless charging feature comes in particularly useful. That said, Cuktech 30 isn’t for charging or running major appliance, just devices like iPhones, iPads and MacBooks.

Market comparison: How does it stack up?

When compared to similar high-capacity power banks from brands like Anker and Mophie, the Cuktech 30 holds its own and often excels. At 40,000mAh, its battery is exceptionally high capacity, which means it will charge more devices and last longer than others before needing a recharge. And with a maximum output of 300W, it beats most portable chargers and power banks for pure output power. Similarly, 140W self-charging means it replenishes quickly.

And for a price of $150, that’s a lot of power bank compared to other market entrants. The Cuktech 30 offers higher capacity and output at a competitive price point.

Advantages and disadvantages

Advantages:

  • Exceptional capacity and output power.
  • Versatile charging options (USB-C, USB-A, wireless).
  • Fast recharging capability.
  • Informative display for real-time monitoring.
  • Robust build quality with safety features.

Disadvantages:

  • Heavier than smaller-capacity power banks (though justified by its capabilities).
  • Premium price point (although competitive for its features).
  • May be overkill for users who don’t need such high capacity.

Specifications: Power-packed performance

The Cuktech 30 Power Bank boasts some impressive specifications that set it apart from many competitors in the market:

  • Capacity: A massive 40,000mAh (144Wh) battery
  • Maximum output: 300 watts total power output
  • Ports: 2x USB-C, 2x USB-A
  • Wireless charging: 20W Qi wireless charging pad
  • Fast charging: Supports up to 140W fast charging on a single port.
  • Recharge time: Approximately 2.5 hours for a full charge

Bottom line: Is it worth it?

The Cuktech 30 Power Bank is a premium product that delivers on its promises. Its high capacity, fast charging capabilities and versatile output options come at a price of more heft than some people would want. But they make it an excellent choice for power users, frequent travelers and anyone who needs reliable portable power.

And while it comes at a higher price point than some competitors — $150 — its additional features and performance justify the investment. For those who rely heavily on their devices and need a power bank that can keep up with demanding use, the Cuktech 30 is a good choice.
