Apple VP for Worldwide Product Marketing Phil Schiller just announced the new iPad, and it features a gorgeous Retina display. Interestingly, the company didn’t go with the an A6 processor, but a dual-core A5X, as some rumors suggested. The device also sports updated cameras, with a 5-megapixel sensor on the back and 5-element lens.

Apple’s Tim Cook just bragged about the iPad’s dominance in San Francisco.

Facts from the stage:

• 15.4 million iPads were sold last quarter alone. Cook said, “We sold more iPads in the last quarter of last year than any PC maker sold of their PCs.”
• Apple considers the iPad as the “poster child of the post-PC world.”
• Over 200k apps have been created specifically for the iPad. “These apps are groundbreaking,” noted Cook.

And here’s what we’re all waiting for: Apple’s announced the new Retina Display iPad!

Apple has just announced the new Apple TV, supporting 1080p. And to make sure you have content to watch on it, all iTunes Movies are jumping to 1080p too.

Senior VP Eddie Cue says that TV shows will pop up in 1080p on iTunes the day after they are released.

In addition, the new Apple TV will have iTunes Match support, just like all the other iOS devices out there.

There’s more. Photo Stream is coming to the Apple TV, so when you take a picture on your iPhone, it automatically pops up on the Apple TV.

Oh, and did we mention there’s a new streamlined interface?

You can even access Movies you’ve already bought direct from your Apple TV now, just like TV Shows and Music were already available through iCloud.

The new Apple TV will be available March 16th, for $99, same as before.

Apple has just announced that iOS 5.1 is coming to everyone today, after months of speculation.

And no surprise: as rumored, Siri is coming to Japan!

Apple CEO Tim Cook has taken the stage at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, California to talk about “the post-PC revolution” and Apple’s three post-PC products: the iPhone, iPod, and iPad. “In many ways, it’s reinventing portable computing, and outstripping the wildest of predictions,” Cook said to a room full of eager journalists.

76% of Apple’s revenue comes from these three products. “The post-PC world plays to our strengths.”

And it’s begun. Apple CEO Tim Cook has just strode on stage at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco in front of gathered journalists to debut Apple’s latest and greatest product.

What will it be? A new iPad is all but a certainty, and convincing rumors peg it as a Retina display affair with 4G LTE, but we won’t know until Tim Cook opens his mouth.

While 4G LTE connectivity for the iPad 3 seemed unlikely just a few weeks ago, recents rumors have said that the super speedy mobile internet technology will indeed be making its debut in Apple’s new tablet. The latest report comes from The Wall Street Journal, which confirms the device be joining Verizon’s LTE network.

Report after report, same old, same old: Android and iOS continue to kick everyone’s arse in the mobile market. The latest comScore report is out, and once again, these two remain the only ones gaining any market share. Android continues to lead the pack with 48.6% (up 2.3 percentage points) while iOS remains in second with 29.5% (up 1.4 percentage points). Everyone else continues to lose market share with RIM holding the third position at 15.2% (down 2 percentage points. After that it’s Microsoft with 4.4% (down 1 percentage point) followed by Symbian with 1.5% (down .1 percentage point). Overall Android and iOS occupy 78.1% of the market with no signs of slowing down.

Apple has officially confirmed that an iPad event is set to take place today, Wednesday, March 7th, at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, California. “We have something you really want to see. And touch,” teases the press invitation.

Months and months of rampant speculation and conspiracy stories have built up to next week’s event, and no one really knows what Apple has planned, other than a new iPad. I myself have had issues with OS X Lion not remembering my home wireless network. Or, more accurately, not choosing it when waking my MacBook Air from sleep. So when I came across this tip, I figured I’d share with the rest of you.

This is neat: When you log into a webmail account using Safari in OS X Mountain Lion, Safari will offer to save the login info. So far, so familiar. The new trick is that it will also offer to set up your Mac apps with the same login. Thus, you sign in to Gmail and Safari will ask if you want to use your Gmail account with Mail, Messages and Calendar.

Apple is set to introduce a new AppleCare+ warranty for its new iPad today that will cover owners for up to two incidents of accidental damage. The new plan is much the same as that introduced for the iPhone 4S back in October, and is set to cost $99 for two years of coverage.

While some reports have claimed that Apple’s new iPad will get a small price increase today, the new 1080p Apple TV is expected to maintain the same $99 price tag.

Apple will make its iPad 3 official in just a few hours’ time, but that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from turning this morning. Ten One — purveyor of beautifully designed Apple accessories to the tasteful and handsome — has announced an iPad 3 compatible, pressure-sensitive stylus. Codenamed “Blue Tiger,” the wireless pen could be just what artists have been waiting for.

We’re now just hours away from Apple’s iPad 3 — or iPad HD — unveiling, which looks set to become the Cupertino company’s first iOS device to boast 1GB of RAM. Chronic, the iOS hacker behind the Chronic Dev Team, has confirmed that Apple’s third-generation tablet will get double the RAM of its predecessor.

Today’s pre-event rumors say that there may be a version of iPhoto announced for the iPad 3, and it certainly makes sense. Daring Fireball’s John Gruber and Panic’s Neven Mrgan both argue that iPhoto is an obvious candidate for an iPad with a beautiful Retina display, and Gabe Glick, writing at MacStories, makes the case for Aperture. I think at least some of them may be right.
