We last caught up with Pics.io back in the summer, when it was just starting out in beta form. Now the service has gone live, and you can convert and edit your RAW photos right there in the browser. Yes, the future really has arrived.
In a fit of either obliviousness or hubris, Evernote yesterday released an update to its iOS app in the middle of some other clearly less-important news. The update is actually pretty solid, although not nearly as radical as the last one which revamped the entire interface for the second time in less than a year.
Lost your keys? Sure you have, you absent-minded fellow you. And you iPhone? No frickin; way, right? What you clearly need is a way to replace your keys with your iPhone. That’s already been done for the home, and now you can toss the keys for your bike lock.
Not interested in a case for you new Retina iPad mini, or the gorgeous iPad Air? Nope, me neither – I want to show that thing off to passersby and pickpockets alike. But what I don’t want to do is carry it in my hand all the time, so I’ll be needing yet another bag for my man-sack collection. [1]

“The zoom animations everywhere on the new iOS 7 are literally making me nauseous and giving me a headache.” That first post from an Apple support forum member on September 18th has since snowballed into a massive thread with over 640 replies and 57,000 views.
While it’s obviously a small portion of iOS 7’s 200 million+ user base, there’s a subset of the new operating system’s users that can’t handle all the zooming. Beyond the parallax effect, opening and closing apps is akin to jumping in and out of a mini vortex. “The whole look is just jarring,” said another forum member.
Apple released iOS 7.0.3 to the masses today, and nestled in the update is an amped up “Reduce Motion” option.

Of the ten cases and three keyboard cases announced by Belkin after today’s event, the most interesting is the minimalist Qode (perhaps a Star Wars character?) Thin Type Keyboard Case — one of Belkin’s excellent keyboards wrapped in aluminum and equipped with a hinge that lets it double as a cover for the screen. For a little more protection, there’s the Qode (Peruvian dessert?) Ultimate Keyboard Case, which adds a protective aluminum backing around the iPad Air.
The redesign of Apple’s iWork and iLife apps received all the attention at today’s keynote, but Apple isn’t totally neglecting some of its lesser-used apps. Apple released an update for Find My iPhone this afternoon that brings a redesigned interface to the security app to bring it inline with iOS 7’s UI.
Find My iPhone allows users who misplace their iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch or Mac to use another iOS data to find the lost device and protect your data. The redesign seems to be purely aesthetic as all of the core feature remain relatively unchanged. Users can still remotely lock devices, wipe data, view battery charge, and even get driving directions to a lost device.
The free update is available in the App Store now.
Update: Looks like Podcasts and Movie Trailers have also been updated with new iOS 7 UIs.

The completely new version of the iWork suite Apple announced today is now available in the App Store. Pages, Keynote and Numbers have been redesigned with a more modern design to compliment the new iOS 7 versions.
To compliment the new iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display, Apple has released not only updated Smart Covers, but a new Smart Case accessory. “We have a lot more to cover” was the tagline for today’s event, and it turned out to be true in more ways than one.
Safari 6.1 has just been released to bring Apple’s web browsing app for Mountain Lion into line with the newly announced OS X Mavericks version of Safari, with features like Shared Links, the new Sidebar, and Power Saver.
This updated version of Safari is available now for all users of OS X Mountain Lion via the Software Update panel in the Mac App Store.

Now that the wraps have officially come off the new iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display, the only thing left to do is scrutinize the hell out of them before deciding which one to buy. Apple’s never given customers as many tablet options as they have today, so our question is – Which iPad do you want the most?
The iPad mini now has the same A7 chip as the iPad Air making it just as good for gaming, plus it’s smaller and cheaper. But then there’s the iPad Air with its anorexic frame, featherweight features, and big screen which makes it the ultimate tablet. Of course you could always go the cheaper route now that the iPad mini and iPad 2 prices have been cut, making for one tough decision for iPad lovers.

The iPad mini, announced today, is suddenly a fantastic gaming device. While the original iPad mini introduced a fantastic iPad form factor at 7.9 inches, the iPad 2-equivalent display and CPU just doesn’t quite cut it for higher-end gaming apps.
Of course, all of Apple’s iOS devices have been great for gaming ever since the App Store launched back in 2008. Games make up a huge portion of the 1,000,000 apps out there to date, and it’s not surprising anymore to see console-level gaming experiences show up on both iPad and iPhone.
OS X Mavericks is Apple’s next major version of its desktop OS that has been in beta all summer, and today Apple announced that it’s ready to ship to the public. For the first time, Apple is offering the new OS X as a completely free downloaded in the Mac App Store, so there’s absolutely no reason for you to not get it.
Oh man, how cool is the new Retina iPad mini for photographers? Not only has it got that sweet new hi-res display, it can now be had with 128GB RAM. That alone makes it pretty great for viewing and editing your photos, but there’s also a new version of iPhoto for iOS. But does it improve on the last excellent-but-flawed version of iPhoto on the iPad? Does it play nice with the Mac version of iPhoto? Let’s see.

According to Apple’s website, T-Mobile is now offering 200MB of free data each month with the purchase of one of the new iPads announced today — the new Retina iPad Mini or the iPad Air. This is in contrast to the three other carriers, which have plans that start at $15 or $20 — though they come with more data.
