During its first-ever keynote from the Steve Jobs Theater today, Apple unveiled two new iPhones, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, which are essentially the sequels to last year’s models, only without as many whiz-bang features as the iPhone X.

Apple’s fifth generation Apple TV, a.k.a. Apple TV 4K, will start shipping to customers on September 22.
As suggested by previous reports, the new set-top box boasts impressive 4K video support — representing a major advance in terms of video quality, and providing what Tim Cook calls “cinematic quality [for] everything you watch.” And that’s not all!

You’ve written your wish-list and sent it off to Santa, and now it’s time to hit the hay before you wake up to find out if you’ve been good enough this year. In other words, the Apple store is now down ahead of today’s special event.
For now, you'll have to use third party Qi chargers. Photo: Ste Smith/Cult of Mac
Apple’s been working on its own wireless charging accessory, but don’t necessarily expect to see it to ship alongside the company’s new iPhones.
That’s according to respected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities. While the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X will reportedly all support wireless inductive charging standards, users must settle for third-party Qi chargers (at least at first).

The first public showcase of Apple Park’s Steve Jobs Theater will be one of the most exciting things about today’s big iPhone X event.
Apple owns the venue, rather than having to rent a big space for the media blitz. However, gaining the necessary permission to use the Steve Jobs Theater wasn’t guaranteed.
Then and now -- the original iPhone wallpaper, and the new version for the iPhone X. Photo: Apple/Cult of Mac
The iPhone X comes 10 years after the original iPhone. Even the name itself could be a not-so-subtle homage to this: Apple used X, the Roman numeral for 10, for years to name the Mac’s OS X operating system. But there is another 10th anniversary reference in the new iPhone X: It comes with an updated version of the original iPhone’s iconic wallpaper.

The wait in line for the great iPhone X has already begun.
Apple hasn’t even unveiled its new premium $1,000 iPhone yet, or announced when it will be available, but that’s not stopping some hardcore fanboys from lining up at stores with cash in hand.
What will Tim surprise us with this time? Photo: Apple
The biggest Apple keynote of 2017 is just a few short hours away. And according to the rumors, its going to be one of the most memorable tech events in years.
When Tim Cook and Co. take the stage at the Steve Jobs Theater on September 12, we expect them to unveil not one, not two, but three new iPhones. A bunch of other new hardware and software is also on the docket, making this an Apple keynote not to be missed.
The iPhone's keyboard is smart enough to learn the words you type. Photo: Cult of Mac
Since iOS 8, the QuickType predictive text has been a tentpole feature of the iPhone’s keyboard. It analyzes the text you’ve typed so far and remembers new words that you type so it can suggest them later. However, if you tend to misspell a word, it automatically learns that word and offers it in the suggestions. If this happens a lot, it might even attempt to autocorrect the correctly spelled word to the misspelled “learned” word.
The iOS keyboard might also offer suggestions for embarrassing words it has learned. Having such words pop up in the suggestions can be really annoying. If you’re experiencing this, you may want toreset keyboard dictionary to remove unwanted words and start fresh.
The Apple TV remote is getting a big upgrade. Photo: Ste Smith/Cult of Mac
The Apple TV is set to get some big upgrades during Apple’s huge keynote tomorrow, but one unexpected surprise could bring some big changes to the Siri remote.
After doing some digging into the code from the leaked iOS 11 GM, developer Guilherme Rambo found new references indicate the Siri remote will be upgraded as well. This time it could gain haptic feedback.

The long wait for Apple’s big iPhone 8 upgrade is nearly over.
Apple is set to unveil its new lineup of iPhones during an event at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino on September 12. This year’s model has been hyped more than any in recent memory. The iPhone X will officially be the most powerful iOS device Apple’s ever made, based on information from the leaked iOS 11 GM.
Apple’s new A11 chip will pack six cores for unprecedented processing power in an iPhone. And with all the new augmented reality and 3D scanning features its set to receive, it’s gonna need all the power it can get.
It's surprising how much technology gets crammed into the super-slim Moovy Bag. Photo: Moovy Bag
This post is presented by Moovy.
More people live and work outside of the office today than ever before. Entrepreneurs, freelancers, digital creatives — we all wander the world, doing our work on buses and in airplanes, at coffeeshops and in hotel rooms. For digital nomads, living out of a suitcase has become living out of a backpack.
That makes it somewhat surprising that we haven’t seen a bag that nails the particular needs of the digital wanderer. At least not until the Moovy Bag came along.
After Apple ranked third in Fortune’s annual list of companies that Change the World, Tim Cook sat down for a wide-ranging interview to discuss how Apple is making a dent in the universe now.
The Apple CEO talked about everything from education and health initiatives to how Cupertino thinks different about charity. He also revealed that some of Apple’s research and development regarding health and wellness won’t ever be about making money.

iPhone X might be insanely expensive, but that won’t prevent it from becoming the best-selling Apple smartphone to date. What might scupper sales is incredibly short supply.
According to one reliable analyst, iPhone X production, as it currently stands, has no hope of keeping up with early demand.

Apple has made a couple of changes in iOS 11 that make it more difficult for cops to get into your iPhone. We discovered one of those last month, and now another has been uncovered by security software developer ElcomSoft.
It makes it even more difficult for law enforcement to obtain the data on your iPhone, even if they have your fingerprint.
One more thing for tomorrow? Photo: Ste Smith/Cult of Mac
From the tenth anniversary iPhone X to a next-gen Apple Watch and a 4K Apple TV, tomorrow’s Apple keynote is going to be a packed affair. However, Apple could potentially have one more thing to announce at the event: a brand new iPod touch.
Last updated in July 2015, a new iPod touch is long overdue. According to the recently-released treasure of iOS 11 developer code, a new model could be in the works. The most exciting bit? Its code hints at the same facial recognition technology the new iPhone will sport.

Today, everyone can use a website. That’s true whether you’re creating content, selling something, building a brand or just putting your ideas out into the world. However not everybody has the skills (or patience) to code their own website.

Developers found no reference to Apple Watch Series 3 in the iOS 11 GM code, but we’re still confident the new wearable will get its grand unveiling tomorrow.
The device has already appeared inside iOS 11 itself, and now it’s even popping up in the official Verizon app.
The iPhone X isn't going to be a guaranteed smash hit in China. Photo: Cult of Mac
The iPhone X is all but guaranteed to carry Apple’s biggest ever iPhone price tag, and that could severely damage its chances of success in China, a new report claims.
With the rumored $1,000 asking price being roughly twice the average Chinese monthly salary, it is likely that the price will see the iPhone’s Chinese market share continue its decline.
