If you’re lucky enough to get an invite to Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference this June, make sure you don’t turn up at Moscone West with your selfie stick.

Apple’s information page for the event confirms that selfie sticks and similar apparatus will not be allowed inside the venue or within the Yerba Buena Gardens, so if you really must take pictures of your own face, you’ll have to do it the old-fashioned way.

“You are not permitted to make audio or audiovisual recordings of WWDC or take professional photographic or video equipment, or wearable recording devices into Moscone West or Yerba Buena Gardens,” reads Apple’s rules.

“In addition, you may not use selfie sticks or similar monopods within Moscone West or Yerba Buena Gardens.”

The rules also ban devices like Google Glass, which have a built-in camera and would therefore be considered “wearable recording devices.” However, iPhones and iPads are allowed, so if you get the chance to snap a selfie with Tim Cook, you can pull out one of those instead.

Other things you cannot do at WWDC include smoking e-cigarettes (and obviously real cigarettes) within 20 feet of the lobby doors, and soliciting or selling items or services.

Sounds like they are not permitting anything outside of camera phones or point and shoots so why exactly are you singling out selfie sticks?

  2. This is good. Selfie sticks defy words to describe how horrible they are.
