Steve Wozniak changed the world when he co-founded Apple with Steve Jobs to create the first personal computer. Now, after revolutionizing the tech world, he’s ready to impart his wisdom upon the top tech minds in Australia.

University of Technology, Sydney announced that it’s hired Woz on as an adjunct professor for the school, where he’ll start teaching in December.

Woz has spoken openly of his love for Australia over the years, and even revealed in 2012 that he’s in the process of becoming a full-fledged citizen. The district around the University of Technology Sydney is gaining momentum as a technology hub, with Google Australia headquarters also nearby.

As an adjunct professor at UTS, Woz will be part of the university’s Magic Lab that focuses on innovation and enterprise by conducting research in the fields of robotics and artificial intelligence. Lab director Mary-Anne Williams had the following to say regarding the high-profile hire.

“Woz loves the energy, the vibe and the robots in the Magic Lab. Woz is a strong advocate for technology and its impact on society. He constantly highlights the new possibilities for technology to change the world and he will be working with us to help UTS reach its vision to be a leading university of technology. The students have been totally wowed by the attention he has given them, one claiming he had changed her life in less than 60 seconds.”

The appointment as professor is the first of its kind that Woz has accepted at any university. According to the school, Wozniak will spend three periods a year teaching at the lab, and then interact and stay in touch with research groups remotely.

Three periods a year? And that means he’s teaching? LOL More like they just wanted his name on the University door. :)

“Now after decades revolutionizing the tech world, he’s ready to impart his wisdom to the top tech minds in Australia.”

When was the last time he did anything to revolutionize the tech world? He hasn’t worked at Apple in decades.

    • Right. He left the company, then came back, and then left again. The original Mac had very little of his input (if any). Most of the time, I just wish he would shut up since most of what he says these days is B.S.

His Twitter feed is mostly about walking his dogs, eating at chain restaurants, and staying in swanky hotels.

The only thing that would make him less relevant to tech today would be if his last name was Kardashian.

Wait… Our American prostitute royalty is making millions off of an inane fame whoring game. Yep. Woz is less relevant.

Buh-Bye, don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

One small correction: He won’t actually be moving to Australia. He’ll be commuting from here on his submersible Segway PT.

  5. crateish says:

Personally, I’d rather be taught by someone with tech relevance in this century.

Good. People are tired of his comments over here anyways.

Prof. Woz, if you are reading this, just know that some of us out here know your value and what you offer (well, part of it at any rate).

I’m not sure why people are so anti-Woz? Do people take it as an anti US thing?

    Welcome to Australia.

When you’ve invented a computer and started a company that changed the world, you have earned the right to be relevant for the rest of your life. Stop complaining.

  9. Steve Lawrence says:

Wow jeez what’s with all the Woz hate?

  10. Yujin says:

Couldn’t make it to Stanford, MIT, Columbia..heck not even NYU. Lol

  11. Yujin says:

He helped jobs assemble stuff. Lol

    • BusterH says:

He did more than just “assemble stuff.” There wouldn’t have been an Apple I or II without Woz’s brilliant engineering. Woz is responsible for the rise of personal computers more than anyone. Jobs just made it look pretty.

  12. PMB01 says:

All the hate from people who don’t have a clue what Woz can actually do or knows. HA!
