Of all the big companies that would interested in buying their employees the Apple Watch when it comes out, fashion brands like Louis Vuitton and Fendi come to mind first. What doesn’t come to mind is BuzzFeed.

But that’s exactly what BuzzFeed CEO Jonah Peretti is doing for his 700+ employees. As a reward for reaching 200 million unique visitors and 750 million video views in one month, every BuzzFeed staffer gets an Apple Watch.

Assuming that BuzzFeed chooses to go with the base $350 Watch model, that will end up costing at least $240,000. While quite the bonus gift, it’s only a small fraction of the $100 million in revenue BuzzFeed has pulled in over the last year.

    I can believe they bought that many. Going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume it’s a knowing, “buzzfeedy” reference ;)

    I don’t understand the author’s surprise. I would not expect Louis Vuitton or Fendi to buy all their employees Apple Watches. I would expect an internet-based news company, however. So BuzzFeed is hardly surprising.
