Apple is working on a new pair of Beats headphones, according to leaked FCC documents. They work over Bluetooth and appear to be pretty much identical to the Solo2 headphones Beats released in May.
The documents are filed by Apple, which makes sense given its ownership of Beats. Although Apple’s name is all over the documents, it appears that it intends to keep using the Beats brand for new audio hardware.
The cans themselves connect over Bluetooth 4.0 Low-Energy, but otherwise function just like the current Solo2 headphones. Beats sells its more high-end Studio headphones for $300 with a $79 markup for Bluetooth. Since the Solo2 headphones sell for $200, it would make sense for this upcoming wireless model to cost $279.

I still love Bose — :( Ae2W headphones are the best ! Really not seeing the beats benefit for all the money apple spent. They could have done so much better without it…
Surprises me that Apple picked up Beats when they’re just over priced/hyped headphones. Blue tooth might be convenient, but I don’t think the sacrifice in sound quality is worth it. I’ll take me a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50x for >$200 over beats any day.
