We’ve heard tell that Twitter would soon be launching a music-discovery app, but it now appears that we might see it as early as today.

According to sources speaking to All Things D, the world’s most popular microblogging social network intends on launching a standalone music app this weekend at the Coachella music festival.

The new music service will apparently suggest music to users depending on how they use and who they follow on Twitter, as well as bands their friends and followers mention. The music recommendations will come as small sound clips using third-party services like iTunes and Sound Cloud; you’ll also be able to watch music videos through the app.

The app has been built for Twitter by We Are Hunted, a music recommendation service Twitter bought last year.

All Things D says that while they expect the app to be announced and released today, it could debut later in the weekend as well. Whenever it comes, we’ll let you know, and stay tuned for a full review.
