Tiny hero, giant fun: Ant-Man’s new trailer packs a punch

While we might all be waiting breathlessly for Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron this summer, there’s another big contender for tiny superhero dominance: Ant Man.

Starring Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Ant Man will show up on the big screen this July. The new trailer below gives us the first glimpse of Rudd in his Ant Man suit, which gives the character superhuman strength, the ability to shrink to a miniscule size, and the ability to communicate and control ants.

It’s a pretty ridiculous set of powers, but, as Rudd says near the end of the trailer, “I know; it wasn’t my idea.”

Also starring Michael Douglas as original Ant Man Hank Pym, Evangeline Lily from Lost, and Corey Stoll (who you may recognize from his star turn in the US version of House of Cards) as Yellowjacket, Ant Man promises to be a fun, Marvel-sized flick full of self-aware humor, like the moment in the trailer where Rudd and Stoll fight across the killing fields of a toy train set, complete with a deadly Thomas the Tank Engine.

It’s all in good fun, and we can’t wait to see how this character will play out across the Marvel ouvre, even if we won’t get to meet him in Avengers next month.

Ok, I didn’t react until the Thomas the Tank Engine scene. That was pretty cute.
