Apple CEO Tim Cook joined the CEO Council for Sustainable Urbanization this week as part of Apple’s continued fight against global warning and environmental issues.
The council is basically like an Avengers-style group (or Justice League if DC is your preferred flavor) consisting of CEOs and chairmen from the top companies in China and the West, that are hellbent on saving the planet from overpopulation, deforestation, and finite energy resources.
“Apple is committed to running our global operations on 100 percent renewable energy and we’re working hard to reduce emissions throughout our global supply chain,” Tim Cook said in prepared statement from the Paulson Institute. “We look forward to participating in the CEO Council’s effort to advance China’s green transformation and hope to do our part in helping China reach its climate goals.”
The council’s second annual meeting is scheduled for October 22nd in Beijing. The agenda will include discussions on scaling clean technologies in face of the Chinese government’s lower carbon emissions targets. The CEO Council says its mission is to ” mobilize business to promote sustainable urbanization through innovative corporate environmental and social practices, effective government policies and direct actions by companies and governments.”
Other notable figures on the 17-person council include GM CEO Mary Barra, InBev CEO Carlos Brito, Honeywell CEO David M. Cote, Dow Chemical CEO Andrew N. Liveris, Alibaba Chairman Jack Ma, Wal-Mart CEO Doug McMillon, and IBM chairman Virginia M. Rometty.

Being rich and running a successful company does not immunize a CEO from falling for claptrap from the entitled class. If there were (a) reliable information indicating that human activity was leading to future catastrophic climate change, and (b) a hint that abandoning traditional energy sources would make a smidgen of difference, then committing to renewable energy to make Apple’s products might make sense. However, neither of these conditions exist, and Apple’s products do more to reduce energy consumption and improve the human condition than can possibly be quantified. So what Mr. Cook has endorsed is objectively bone-headed.
This is, sadly, not the only bone-headed endorsement he has made. But his company still makes good products and a profit for its investors.
WOW, Cook comes on board and all of a sudden it turns out that the WHOLE D A M N thing is taken care of. Hey Timmy, it’s a friggin’ HOAX and you’ve bought into hook, line and sinker. Try listening to the big REAL scientists coming forward calling it a hoax.
So, the main climate change dude from Sweden that started all this brouhaha 10+ years ago, just came out and said he doesn’t believe it anymore. In fact, he said that major weather events have DROPPED in the last 10 years compared to previous. Myself, I believe in the God that created heaven and earth, the planets, weather, and all it encompasses. That seems easier to ‘swallow’ than anything the science community has come up with to this point.

So, “fight against global warning” huh? All this time I thought the climate was warming up. Little did I know there was a global initiative to warn me about something.
