Apple TV’s Hollywood satire The Studio cemented its place in television history, claiming the International category at Sunday’s 2026 BAFTA Television Awards in London — the final major prize needed to complete the most dominant awards run ever achieved by a debut comedy series.
“The historic journey of ‘The Studio’ has been nothing short of astounding,” said Matt Cherniss, Apple TV’s head of programming. “The show’s sweeping success is a testament to the extraordinary talent, creativity and innovation of Seth, Evan and the entire creative team and cast.”
“The series has resonated deeply with audiences worldwide, bringing laughter to millions,” he added. “We couldn’t be prouder of the team’s monumental achievement and the way ‘The Studio’ has redefined what’s possible for comedy on a global scale.”
The Studio: Most awarded new comedy ever
The BAFTA win was no ordinary trophy. It made The Studio the first comedy in history to sweep all major awards in a single season, according to Apple’s press release. The show also became the first comedy to claim the BAFTA International category in a decade, and it handed Apple TV its first-ever win in that category. On the night, The Studio beat out fellow nominees The Bear, The Diplomat, The White Lotus — and even stablemates Severance and Pluribus from Apple’s own lineup.
Apple TV landed three wins at Sunday’s ceremony in total, with Slow Horses and Vietnam: The War That Changed America also taking home awards. That extends a BAFTA streak that includes four wins in both 2024 and 2025.

If you’ve lost track of The Studio‘s trophies, you’re not alone. Heading into Sunday’s ceremony, the show was already the most Emmy-winning freshman comedy in history, with 13 wins at the 2025 Primetime Emmys — including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor for Seth Rogen — breaking the record previously held by The Bear.
The show also collected Golden Globe wins for Best Comedy and Best Actor (Rogen), Critics Choice wins for Best Comedy, Best Actor (Rogen), and Best Supporting Actor (Ike Barinholtz), and an American Film Institute Award for TV Program of the Year. Guild wins spanned the Producers Guild, Writers Guild, Directors Guild, American Cinema Editors, Costume Designers Guild, American Society of Cinematographers, and more.
A tribute to Catherine O’Hara

The BAFTA ceremony was not without its emotional moments. Rogen used his acceptance speech to pay tribute to his late co-star Catherine O’Hara, who passed away in January at the age of 71. O’Hara played former studio head Patty Leigh in the series, earning widespread critical praise for the role.
“I’d be remiss not to mention one of the key parts of the show, Catherine O’Hara,” Rogen told the London crowd. “She meant so much to all of us.” He dedicated the BAFTA award to her directly, adding: “I assume her work has been so important to you all over here as it was to us. So this is for Catherine.”
O’Hara had already received a posthumous Outstanding Female Actor win at the Actor Awards earlier this year, where Rogen also accepted on her behalf.
