Apple’s “1984” Macintosh commercial isn’t just the most iconic Apple ad in history, but one of the greatest advertisements ever created anywhere.

Now, three-and-a-half decades after the ad aired, the original storyboard for the commercial has popped up online. It offers a glimpse at the process which led to Blade Runner director Ridley Scott’s masterful ad.

The images were shared as part of a post by Business Insider. It came from Steve Hayden, who worked on the ad, and illustrated by illustrator Hank Hinton. It’s only a low-res copy of the picture, but hopefully a higher resolution version will appear before too long.

The BI article is intended to promote an episode of the Household Name podcast, which will come out this Wednesday.

According to Business Insider, the podcast episode will reveal the story behind the iconic commercial, including plenty of fun behind-the-scenes stories such as, “the unique ways that Apple found extras for the spot as well as why Jobs was skeptical about airing an ad during the Super Bowl.”

For more on the iconic commercial, which aired around this time 35 years ago, check out our own retrospective article here.
