Forget draping yourself in the flag: in hopes of gaining votes, a politician in Taiwan dressed up like Apple co-founder Steve Jobs.
Former premier Yu Shyi-kun, right, donned the famed Jobsian black turtleneck during a press conference at the legislature in Taipei.
Just a day after the iconic Apple co-founder announced he was stepping down, Shyi-kun was stumping for votes dressed like him to promote a group called the “iPhone 5.”
The Democratic Progressive Party legislative candidates appeared behind him in a cardboard frame meant to look like a giant iPhone, all of them holding iPhones, just to make sure the message was clear.
And what would that message be?
Rummaging through the Apple slogans, it could be anything from “Think Different,” “The Power to Be Your Best,” or the more ominous “More Power. Thinly disguised.” (Or perhaps a subtle designed-in-California but made-in-China theme?)
It’s the latest in a series of only-in-Asia Steve Jobs dopplegangers spotted by gimlet-eyed blogger Dan Bloom – hot on the New Balanced heels of fake Steve TV commercials and pseudo Steve Jobs advice books.

Ah, yes the resemblance in uncanny……
Smart.
What’s up with the one guy using an HTC device?
For the rest of the world who not knowing this: THAT man represents a party that believes Taiwanese should be “purified” from the influence of People’s Republic of China. These guys take hostile attitude against everything related to PROC, and they hold their votes by spreading hatred and accuse every competition parties as spy and traitors. And yes, he is holding an HTC only because it’s made in Taiwan. To be accurate, “mostly” made in China, but the boss is Taiwanese. They all have selective view points on these things.

Richard, you of all people should know that China and Taiwan are two separate and differnations nations, with separate presidents, currencies and post officesa and banks and, most tellingly, passports. There is ONE CHina, yes, and there is ONE Taiwan, and they are two very interesting and different countries, let’s be fair to both nations. Just like the UK and the USA are different naions, so too are Taiwan and China different nations, with Taiwan a free democratic nation with real elections, ….and Communist China a dictatorship with unelected president like Hu Jin TOE THE LINE….. do not spread propaganda here sir…..this is America.
Legs, I AM the Taiwanese, can’t you recognize it from my surname ? For me, it’s not the problem of “them,” it’s the problem of “us.”
