Sprint has released an app in the App Store that let’s its subscribers watch on-demand TV from the iPhone. Sprint TV lets users access the most popular cable TV networks live over 3G and WiFi. The service includes many popular channels for free, and there’s a total of 40 paid packages available.

Sprint customers with iPhone can now watch free live TV and video-on-demand with the Sprint TV App, available now on the App Store. The Sprint TV App, powered by MobiTV, includes free live news and sports, along with shows from popular content brands such as ABC, CBS, NBC, ESPN, The Disney Channel, MTV, Comedy Central and more.

It looks like the free Sprint TV package is now included with the network’s unlimited data plan. Unlike AT&T and Verizon, Sprint still offers an unlimited data plan for iPhone customers.

Sprint TV for iPhone can be downloaded for free in the App Store. Your Sprint wireless account will be billed if you decide to buy a paid content package.

Just downloaded, apparently you can’t use Wi-Fi to play content.

Downloaded the app this morning at 1:30 am. Have to turn off wi-fi to first sync up and then you are supposed to be able to use wi-fi. Problem is that my app never synced. I left it to run from 1:30 am until 7:30 am this morning and it never synced up.

This app has been a failure so far.

Does this mean that Sprint will have 3G iPad next week?

Sprints new app for iPhones does not give me as much content and does not have as many network providers and I get with DISH TV on the go. A DISH co-worker told me that DISH has now started offering customers access to all of their same channels as they receive at home with out having a sling adapter, this is part of DISH’s Test Drive promotion. DISH’s Test Drive gives DISH customer’s access to TV on Android phones, iPhones, iPad and my computer for 24 hours! DISH’s Test Drive is a great way for DISH customers to try out TV on the go and if you really like how well it works customers can purchase the sling adapter for only $30.
