Skyrim Looks Incredible On The New MacBook Pro’s Retina Display At 1920×1200

The new MacBook Pro is a beast for gaming.
The new MacBook Pro is a beast for gaming.

If, like me, you’re patiently awaiting the delivery of your new MacBook Pro and you’re wondering how well it’s going to play some of your games, check out its performance while running Skyrim at a resolution of 1920 x 1200 on “ultra settings,” with 8x anti-aliasing, and 8x anisotropic filtering.

I think you’ll agree it looks absolutely incredible.

Although the creator of this video admits there there are some “very rare” hiccups when running on “ultra” settings, for the most part they were able to get a steady 35-40 frames per second. That’s on the 2.6GHz Core i7 model which features an NVIDIA 650M GT graphics chip with 1GB of GDDR5 memory.

I don’t know about you, but I itching to get my MacBook Pro even more now.

$2,800 will only get you 35-40fps in a game that’s over 6 months old? Thanks, but I’ll stick with my $1,500 laptop that runs Skyrim on ultra (with the high res texture pack) at the same resolution and still manages 55-60fps on average. Macs should stick to what they’re good at, looking pretty.

35-40 fps is not incredible at all
