Samsung jumps on the super-slim phone bandwagon ahead of Apple with the Galaxy S25 Edge, arriving months before its rival’s release. It’s the company’s slimmest Galaxy phone yet, with a waistline of 5.8mm.
Despite its slim profile, the phone packs high-end flagship internals. The Galaxy S25 Edge will take on the iPhone 17 Air when Apple’s slim model launches in fall 2025.
Galaxy S25 Edge stuns with its sleek, slim design
As its name suggests, the Galaxy S25 Edge belongs to Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S25 family. But instead of outright specs, it stands out for its slim profile. The 5.8mm-thin IP68-certified phone sports a 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED panel, a titanium frame, and dual rear cameras. For comparison, rumors point to the iPhone 17 Air being even thinner at 5.5mm.
However, the phone is not entirely 5.8mm slim. There’s a slight bump on the top left, where the dual cameras are located. But the cameras don’t protrude as much as on other phones. Besides being super thin, the Galaxy S25 Edge is incredibly light at just 163 grams.

Like other flagship Android phones, the Galaxy S25 Edge uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. There’s also a vapor chamber for heat dissipation. Samsung has paired this with 12GB RAM, up to 512GB storage, and a 3,900mAh battery. The device supports 25W wired fast charging and 15W wireless charging.
Despite the focus on thinness, the Galaxy S25 Edge features dual rear cameras. This includes a 200MP primary camera, the same as the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and a 12MP ultrawide with autofocus support. Samsung says it re-engineered the 200MP module to ensure it takes up less space. At the front, there’s a 12MP selfie shooter.
The S25 Edge runs on Android 15-based One UI 7 and packs several AI features like Audio Eraser, Drawing Assist, Real-time translations for calls, etc.
The Galaxy S25 Edge goes on sale starting May 30, with Samsung already accepting pre-orders. Pricing starts from $1,100.
iPhone 17 Air might be a better slim phone
If you want a phone as thin as possible, the upcoming iPhone 17 Air might be a better buy. It will supposedly feature a 5.5mm-thin chassis, making it 0.3mm thinner than the Galaxy S25 Edge. This thinness will come with some compromises, though, including the phone only sporting a single 48MP rear camera.
