The first trailer for Rogue One, the first stand-alone Star Wars movie, finally dropped this morning and it looks absolutely amazing.
There’s so much war going on in the two-minute trailer that our minds can barely take it all in. Prepare to get Star Wars fever all over again!
Rogue One takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, but there might not be any lightsabers or Jedi action. Instead, the story will focus on Jyn Erso, a kickass Rebel spy played by Felicity Jones who helps a group unlikely heroes steal plans for the Death Star.
Rogue One‘s first trailer features shots of shiny new Star Destroyers, the Death Star, a young Mon Mothma, Donnie Yen beating up stormtroopers with a stick, and a very mysterious dark figure that just might be Darth Vader.
Aside from Jones and Yen, the cast includes Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Jiang Wen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed and Forest Whitaker. Rogue One is directed by Gareth Edwards, who made his bones with Monsters and 2014’s Godzilla reboot.
It’s produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel, executive-produced by John Knoll and Jason McGatlin, and co-produced by John Swartz and Kiri Hart.

The author clearly doesn’t understand the Star Wars timeline. Evidence of this is the statement that:
“Rogue One takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, meaning there might not be any lightsabers or Jedi action. ”
Star Wars: A New Hope was the first movie, but it is fourth in the timeline. Anybody halfway familiar with the franchise should know this.
my deepest apologies master lynn. i should have used “but” instead of “meaning.” thank you for being a pernicious star warshiper
So Lynn. Since you are a fan, what was going on in the universe at the time when the Death Star was being constructed and the plans being stolen right before A New Hope? Where were the Jedi at that point in time? Jedi/Sith were all but forgotten and myths as Luke was the first “new” Jedi in a long time while Obi and Yoda were hiding out. Vadar was about the only person with a Light Saber around that time frame.
True
exactly.
Someone better hurry and give this guy his meds…the dark side is strong on this one…
Sorry buddy, that rol has already been taken by you.
Look… I am not a some Star Wars fanboy. However, as someone who has seem them all… There were clearly lightsabers and Jedi before and after the timeframe of this movie. If someone doesn’t realize that they shouldn’t write articles about Star Wars.
