Poll: Microsoft Vista Delay May Help Apple

A BusinessWeek poll about the Microsoft Vista delay yielded an interesting result.

BusinessWeek asked: “Will Microsoft’s decision to delay the next version of the Windows operating system change your PC purchase plans?”

The biggest response by a huge margin — more than 65 perccent — said, “I do intend to buy a new computer — an Apple.”

The results aren’t at all scientific, but it is interesting. Polls always skew toward the negative, but the Apple shift is huge. I’m guessing the poll must have been noted on a pro-Apple site somewhere and Apple fans responded en masse.

(Thanks Robin!)

I have been noticing an increasing interest in apple computers. Especially in the kids at my school. It seems like this new age modern stuff apple has out is really attracting a lot of people. I think over 20 kids in my grade out of about 100 have macs. Thats a good percentage when you think about it. Maybe the popularity is increasing.

So far, one Japanese Bank has decided to switch their entire fleet to Macs:

I wish companies like BusinessWeek would do more old-fashioned, scientific margin-of-error polls. If they had Gallup or Harris ask the same question, the results might actually be useful to their business readers. The percentage of Mac buyers would be lower, but I bet it would be large enough to turn some heads.

I am pretty wired into the Mac Web and I never heard of this poll. I don’t think the macheads descended on this poll, though I am sure many of BW regular readers are mac users.
