Pokémon Go starts its European takeover

Unexpectedly massive smash hit Pokémon Go has made its European debut — arriving in Germany as part of a Europe-wide rollout, which suggests a wider expansion to other European countries over the coming days.

The augmented reality game made its debut last week in Australia and New Zealand, prior to expanding to the U.S. Already a seismic blockbuster — which has caused Nintendo shares to leap up 25 percent as a result — the game has so far racked up more users than Tinder… and that’s before it arrived in Europe.

Of course, if you’re in another part of the world where the game hasn’t yet debuted, there are ways that you can play it — notably by creating a U.S. iTunes account.

Given that servers have already struggled to cope with Pokémon Go‘s limited availability, it’ll be interesting to see how it manages when the app is available for both iOS and Android customers around Europe. Regardless of what happens, however, I think today’s rollout shows that we’re far from hearing the last about the record-breaking Pokémon Go.

Have you had a go at playing it yet? If so, what are your thoughts? Leave your comments below.

Pokemon is one of the most popular games in the world, I think it would be unexpected if it wasn’t a hit.

Pokemon is huge, but were people really expecting it to be this big? Here in the UK, it’s been discussed heavily on the radio and TV. Even my dad, who is far from a gamer, asked me about it. I’d say it’s overperforming.
