The powerful image-editing application Pixelmator Photo is now Photomator. Beyond the name change, the app for iPad and iPhone has been redesigned, and also now lets users easily select and edit specific areas of a photo.
In addition, a public beta of Photomator for Mac is now available.
Photomator 2.3 adds selective adjustments feature for editing images
Long before the name change, Pixelmator Photo was an iPad and iPhone imaging editing app that included a collection of nondestructive, desktop-class editing tools.
Now that it has a new name, the app has “an all-new and incredibly powerful selective adjustments feature that will completely change the way you edit photos in Photomator,” claims Pixelmator.
The change comes compliments of an AI algorithm that scans photos and can precisely select the subject of the image, the background or the sky. The user can then make adjustments to just that selection.

Photomator 2.3 lets users “work with customizable gradient masks, select areas based on their color, or simply paint over the areas you want to edit with a brush,” according to the developer.
Users can create linear and radial gradients to transition between edited and unedited areas of a photo. And the software can adjust specific colors or entire color ranges in photos with the eyedropper tool. Or select items by painting over them with a brush.
