While many computer setups shown off on social media look suspiciously immaculate, the truth is we tend to live at our desks and make a big mess of them routinely. Stuff just piles up. But a great way to keep your workstation clean and organized is to deploy one of the best fixes — a pegboard for setup storage.
With pegboards, you can put practically anything right on your wall, like today’s MacBook Pro user does. We’ve seen some pretty strong negative reactions to them, but there’s no denying their effectiveness.

Pegboards are one of the best storage solutions for computer setups
Redditor acycmusic (“Cy”) showcased the cool, dark setup in a post entitled “MacBook M2 Pro setup.” Cy runs an M2 MacBook Pro driving a 27-inch MCI G27 series display with a monitor light bar on top. The computer sits in clamshell mode on a vertical stand right behind the monitor. She uses a Logitech MX Master 3S wireless mouse and switches between a pair of Magic Keyboards and a Yunzii x75 Mechanical Keyboard for typing.

So today’s focus is on how Cy keeps her MacBook setup so neat and tidy. It’s all due to the Ikea Skadis pegboards on the wall to the left in the photo. With the help of a few accessories like storage bins and different styles of hook, she manages to store all kinds of gear there. For example, she hangs the two keyboards she’s not using at the moment, her work ID badge, a gaming controller, pens, pencils, tools and even lotions and the like.
If not for the pegboard, most or all of that stuff could be on or near the desk, cluttering things up. You could even put gear like MacBooks, iPads and, of course, headphones on a pegboard. Remotes. AirPods. Spare Apple Watch bands. iPhone cases. Your coat. Cables. Chargers. Bills coming due. With the right hooks or bins, you can hang pretty much anything from the holes of a pegboard.
Ikea is just one maker of pegboards. You can find plenty of others on big retail sites like Amazon. Some pegboards come with hooks and other accessories like cups and bins.
