MacBook Pro parody ad pulls exactly zero punches

The new MacBook Pro is stunning, but not without its flaws.

Apple’s latest MacBook Pro is a stunning feat of engineering, but it isn’t without its fair share of compromises. These shortcomings get showcased in the parody ad below, which pulls no punches when highlighting all of the $1,799 notebook’s nasty flaws.

The new MacBook Pro has plenty to boast about. It’s by far the most attractive notebook money can buy, and it’s Apple’s first machine with that exciting new Touch Bar and Touch ID. It also offers Intel Skylake processors and up to 1TB of incredibly speedy storage.

[contextly_auto_sidebar] But the new MacBook Pros are also incredibly expensive. Prices start at $1,799 if you want the entry-level 13-inch model with Touch Bar, and they rise to $2,799 for the stock 15-inch model with a 2.7GHz Core i7 processor and Radeon Pro 455 graphics.

For that kind of money, you would expect a laptop that does it all.

Unfortunately, the new MacBook Pro doesn’t. You need an adapter for almost everything, it maxes out at 16GB of RAM, it no longer features the beloved MagSafe connector, and it’s missing things like an SD card slot.

All of this is highlighted in the brutally honest parody ad below.

MacBook Pro: ‘Flawed’ but still fantastic

Despite its flaws, the new MacBook Pro still looks like a stellar machine — and Apple says it’s selling incredibly well. In fact, according to Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, the company received more orders for this machine than for any other MacBook Pro model ever.

I’d like to know WHY nobody is telling things about the keyboard ! I was @ apple store y-day and I experienced the new MBP (with no touch bar)…Dude, the keyboard is RUBISH ! it’s the very same one used in a MB12 !! They said it’s better and improved…well, maybe , but me as as user I could not feel it. It’s the very same one !!!! This is not acceptable in a PRO computer ! so, plz stop to complain about ports, glowing logo and pay attention in the keyboard !

    • Raul Silva says:

Funny, I tried it and I absolutely loved it! To each his own I guess.

    • Galaxy_Surfer_007 says:

Prove that “it’s the very same one”!

You cannot and — if it were true — Apple would be in a heap of legal trouble given all it stated at the event

Plus, it’s been years since the laptops had *good* keyboards!

      • Jaca Paladium says:

hey stupid…read it again…it’s crystal clear that I’m talking about the point of view of me as user…I can’t feel any difference.

    • Peter says:

I love the new keyboard. Speak for yourself. Just because you dont like it doesn’t mean it’s rubbish, you’re not the benchmark of quality and usability buddy…

    • Andy says:

It’s much better than any other keyboard i have tried. You can dislike it but it’s just your opinion. Not to mention the fact you dont like it doesn’t mean it’s not suited for a pro machine… wouldn’t call someone who can’t adapt and leave mechanical keyboards behind a pro…

      • Jaca Paladium says:

You are just troll…nobody can like that keyboard ;) It’s not much so different than type using a iPad.

      • iUser says:

Pretty sure you are a troll boy getting on an Apple blog forum and posting a message about an Apple product being “rubbish.” What kind of a response do you think you were going to get. I agree it is different, but something being good or bad is an opinion, not fact.

      • Jaca Paladium says:

Nope…you are just a irrational angry fanboy ! You are the kind that’s don’t like to admit flaws in Apple Products. Man up, biatch !

      • Jaca Paladium says:

Dude…check your alias “iUser”…you are just a stupid and irrational fanboy that’s defeat apple without use the mind…just a stupid kid…I’ve tons on apple products in my home – but if tomorrow this starts to upset me…I will replace…The keyboard suck ass totally ! An opinion of a fanboy does not matter. I’m a consumer with mind. And to be very honest…I hope to see some company overtakes Apple in everything because actually I wish to love a different company. Tim screwed Apple

      • run/dos/run says:

Wow, defensive much? All he was saying is that an opinion of something being rubbish is an opinion and not a fact. Just like some people think that android is better and iOS. As far as Tim screwing up Apple, their stock is higher than it ever has been, and apart from last quarter, which was not favorable, they have had grown their business consistantly every year since he took over. They are also still the world’s most popular and most valuable brands. These are not my opinion, they are facts from Forbes.com

      • Jaca Paladium says:

It’s not an opinion…it’s a REAL FACT. The keyboard is rubbish and I don’t give a fuckin’ shit about your apple feelings. Likewise you, I can buy apple stuff with no need to ask money to my parents..that’s the reason why you have love for the brand. And like any boy…you are not capable to understand the concept of Inertia of brand. Study de concept and you will realize that’s apple has no future anymore.

      • run/dos/run says:

250 Billion $$$ in the bank and no future? HA HA HA!!!

And as far as me buying things using mom and dad’s money. I am a grown adult and make my own money. Keep the topic on point instead of attacking the person who is making the post.

      • Jaca Paladium says:

Yes, stupid ! no future ! at least no future as a very relevant company as it is today. Will be a Sony some day.

  4. Shahin Hosseini says:

There is a mistake in the article. The new Macbook Pro maxes out at 2TB of storage, not 1TB.

  5. Luigi S. says:

This MacBook Pro is a Pro for 2020, when everything would be wireless, our cars driverless and we have more money not less.

  6. Galaxy_Surfer_007 says:

Disagree with the parody’s basic message, but laughed and enjoyed it nonetheless.

Now, if they would do the same with the presidential candidates, we might switch 1-2% of the votes and save democracy!

  7. media_lush says:

essentially the top of the range MacBook pro model is £750 more than before… that’s a stupid amount of money… IMO this model is just too expensive. I’ve always bough the top of the range mac laptop… this is the first I won’t be. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/1e8086dfccd62f93a85a3b9576280d0da47c0e30f58bc6b19e7bc66c35408a5a.png

  8. isitjustme says:

Perhaps Apple learned more from the first MacBook with just 1 USB C port than we realized and hence the USB C ports MacBooks.

The funny thing is many of us leave home with a charging cable for the phone but yet we are whining about dongles.

I will never understand. Way too much pay for way too little.
