The new Logitech MX Master 4 wireless mouse upgrades what many consider to be the best productivity mouse on the market, the popular Logitech MX Master 3/3S. At $119.99, the latest iteration introduces haptic feedback and an innovative Actions Ring overlay designed to streamline workflows for creative professionals, developers and power users across the Mac ecosystem.

Logitech MX Master 4 wireless mouse

Logitech’s MX Master 3/3S has long held a top spot in Apple-centric workstations featured in Cult of Mac‘s Setups coverage, possibly even more popular than Apple’s Magic Mouse. And with its upgrades, Logi’s new fourth edition, which also comes in a Mac version, will probably continue that tradition.

The headlining feature of the MX Master 4 is its Haptic Sense Panel, embedded in the thumb rest. This isn’t rumble for gaming or videos — instead, it delivers subtle, purposeful vibrations that punctuate your interactions with the mouse. Press the panel and you’ll feel a satisfying jolt as the Actions Ring overlay appears on screen, ready to execute your most-used commands without hunting through menus or memorizing complex keyboard shortcuts.

The haptics extend beyond just opening menus. You can enable feedback when your cursor moves between displays (a godsend for multi-monitor setups), when connecting or disconnecting devices. And you can use it for app-specific functions like hitting layout guidelines in Adobe applications. With four intensity levels available, users can dial in the exact amount of tactile response they prefer.

Actions Ring puts shortcuts at your fingertips

The Actions Ring is Logitech’s answer for those who dislike repetitive cursor movements and menu diving. The circular overlay appears anywhere on your screen when you press the haptic button, offering instant access to files, folders, applications and custom macros. The company claims users can reduce repetitive mouse movements by up to 63% and save 33% of their time on common tasks.

For Mac users specifically, Logitech offers the MX Master 4 for Mac in white silver and space black finishes that complement Apple’s design language. The Actions Ring can be customized through Logi Options+ software to include Mac-specific shortcuts, system commands and third-party app integrations. Plugins exist for popular creative tools like Affinity Photo and Adobe’s suite, with app-specific Action Rings that surface relevant commands automatically.

You can nest multiple Action Rings within each other for complex workflows, or keep things simple with one-click access to frequently used apps. There’s even an AI shortcut that fans out to provide quick access to ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot.

Refined hardware and enhanced connectivity

Beyond haptics, the MX Master 4 brings meaningful hardware improvements. Logitech claims 2x stronger connectivity thanks to a high-performance chip, optimized antenna placement, and a new USB-C Bolt transmitter that ensures reliable pairing across MacBooks, iMacs and iPads.

The beloved MagSpeed scroll wheel returns, capable of scrolling up to 1,000 lines per second, while the 8K DPI sensor tracks accurately on virtually any surface — including glass. The clicks are now 90% quieter than the MX Master 3, making it ideal for shared workspaces or quiet environments.

Battery life remains impressive at up to 70 days on a full charge, with quick charging that delivers three hours of use from just one minute plugged in. The mouse can pair with up to three devices simultaneously, and you can now switch between them using the Actions Ring rather than the inconveniently placed button on the bottom of previous models.

The gesture button has been relocated to a dedicated position next to the thumb buttons, just below the horizontal scroll wheel, making directional gestures more accessible.

Logitech MX Master 4 wireless mouse: Worth the upgrade?

At 150 grams, the MX Master 4 is 9 grams heavier than its predecessor. It seems noticeably substantial for a productivity mouse, though that weight contributes to its premium, stable feel. Each purchase includes a complimentary one-month membership to Adobe Creative Cloud, featuring Photoshop, Lightroom and Premiere Pro.

For Mac users still using the MX Master 3S, the haptics and Actions Ring represent nice-to-have upgrades rather than essential ones. However, if you’re shopping for a new productivity mouse or coming from an older model, the MX Master 4 launches at the same $119.99 price point while offering meaningful improvements in connectivity, customization and tactile feedback. It’s a worthy evolution of an already excellent design.
