Keep iOS 9 Low Power Mode on indefinitely with this jailbreak tweak

Low Battery Mode might be my favorite thing about iOS 9. It radically improves battery life on an iPhone when your device dips down to 20%.

The only problem? Once your iPhone charges a sufficient amount, Low Battery Mode automatically switches off. Which is a shame, because if you kept Low Battery Mode on all the time, you could eke out hours more battery life from iOS.

Sadly, iOS 9 doesn’t let you keep Low Battery Mode on all the time. But if you’ve got a jailbroken device? That functionality is just an install away.

The tweak is called LowPowerMode (wonder where they got that name from) and it’s available on Cydia’ BigBossRepo. It basically allows you to keep all of Low Power Mode’s features on indefinitely, maximizing battery life regardless of how much of a charge you’ve got left.

What does Low Power Mode do? Here’s what Apple lists in their official support document as being reduced or turned off when you switch on Low Power Mode:

  • Email fetch
  • Hey Siri
  • Background app refresh
  • Automatic downloads
  • Wi-Fi associations
  • Some visual effects

Since I rarely want most of these features on my iPhone, I think this is a pretty worthwhile tradeoff for an iPhone that runs a couple more hours per charge.

Unfortunately, right now, if you want permanent Low Power Mode, you need to have a jailbroken device running iOS 9. Fingers crossed that Apple allows you to permanently turn on Low Power Mode in iOS 10!

I don’t know what version you’re running, but on my 6+ with iOS 9.2 stock, LPM stays on all the time.

Actually this article is wrong you can have low power mode on all the time, I’ve done it multiple of times. Do your research before making an article.

Swipe on the lock-screen notification that says something along the lines of “Low Power Mode has been disabled” to enable it again.

You can absolutely keep low power mode on all the time. It only shuts off when charging reaches 80%. When that happens just go to settings and switch it back on. It’ll stay on even after fully charged. i keep it on all the time.

Low power mode is staying on for me when fully charged in the latest beta of 9.3.
