Apple is slowly rolling out international support for iTunes Match today, with the service appearing in the U.K., Australia, and parts of Europe. The music matching service has been exclusive to the U.S. since its launch earlier this fall, but it made its way to Brazil earlier this week. If you can’t see it where you are, here’s a handy tip to get it working.
The service has already appeared in the U.K., Australia, and France, according to reports this morning. However, it may also be available in other parts of Europe, too. If you don’t already see it in the iTunes Store, here’s how to get it working:
- First, go to the iTunes Store on your desktop
- Scroll to the bottom of the store and click on your flag, then click on United States to visit the U.S. store
- Click iTunes Match on the right-hand side and attempt to sign up with your Apple ID
- You will be presented with an error and taken back to your own store, but you should now have an iTunes Match tab under the “Store” heading on the left-hand side of your iTunes app:
- Click on iTunes Match and you should be able to sign up as normal
If you don’t see iTunes Match using the steps above, or you can’t sign up yet, it would appear iTunes Match hasn’t quite reached your territory just yet. However, it should work for those in the countries listed above. It certainly works in the U.K. because I followed these steps to sign up this morning.
For my fellow Brits, iTunes Match costs £21.99 per year. In Australia it’s $39.99 a year, and in Europe €24.99 a year.
Can you sign up to iTunes Match where you live?
UPDATE: Some users are reporting that this is an error, and that the service is still only available in Brazil and the U.S. This who have signed up to the service and paid the yearly fee — like me — will be getting a refund, according to one MacRumors reader, who has already received an apologetic email from Apple.

There are reports that it could’ve been an accidental and incomplete roll-out. Everyone is getting the same error.
In other news, it’s amazing how this site seems still unable to grasp the concept that the UK is a part of Europe, esp. when the writer lives in the UK. Then again, maybe he just predicts the future.
Error message now
Perhaps he’s been smoking the same stuff Cameron’s been puffing on? :)
Worked for me in the UK at 12:05pm on 15th Dec.
I gues they mean Europe as continent, not Union.
Refunds will be heading your way… This is an error, Apple released it to early!
It doesn’t work in Italy… as usual.
Doesn’t matter. Geographically, the British Isles are part of Europe as well.

I’ve managed to pay for it (in the UK) but that’s as far as it’s gone. I then get the login error and iTunes Match disappears from the sidebar. Hope I’ll get full access soon or at least an extension to my subscription…
Germany is not working. The navigation is vivible, but I can’t sign up.
exactly the same thing for Sweden… Not available yet :(
Nothing here in Finland at least, bummer :(
Nothing here in FInland yet at least, Bummer! :(
I get the iTunes Match Icon following you described procedure but when I click it I get the error 11556. Hopefully it will work soon.
That’s right — Cameron and I often meet up in Downing Street for a cheeky woodbine.
In France, I’ve been charged, but when I click on the iTunes Match tab, I’ve got the Genius page.
And when I quit, the iTunes Match disappears
hahaha – I actually got the impression he smoked the dried out bodies of disgruntled LibDem voters whilst imagining ways to sort out that annoying Vince Cable chap.
it doesn’t work here, west midland, UK. I’ve already been charged £21.99, however, it appears errors while I click iTunes match and shows a page of Genius.
In italy the iTunes Match icon links to United States store
I’m in Canada…blindly signed up last night only to find that…iTunes Match isn’t really available after all.
Sent my refund request in to Apple a few moments ago.
Sloppy…very, very sloppy on Apple’s part.
I signed up and paid via the option in iTunes Accounts, only to see the iTunes Match logo disappear from the iTunes sidebar. However the cloud logo is still showing against each of my music tracks, but nothing appears to be happening. No word from Apple…
PS: I’m in the UK.
UPDATE 2250 It’s now working and scanning my library.
“This item is temporarily unavailable”
Same issue, my tracks are waiting in the icloud status and the taps now disappeared. Hopefully I’ll get a refund!
It doesn’t work in Sweden.
Synd för oss…
It still seems to be available for me to sign up to. I haven’t done so, but I thought they would have removed any traces of it by now. I’m in the UK, by the way.
Working in Ireland. I had the same problem as people below but went back into the american store followed the steps again as if I was buying it then when it transferred me back to the irish site clicked the itunes match logo again and it gave me the option to add my mac. Gathering library information now :)
I tried to do what you did in Belgium but it keeps giving me the error screen :(
