All demand, but no supply!

24 hours after being launched in India, retailers sold out of the iPhone 5s — leading to retail chains asking for replenished stocks, following an unprecedented demand for the new smartphone.

Projected sales for the iPhone 5s hadn’t been high, considering its high price and launch date at the same time as the lower-cost Nexus 5. As a result, only around 6,000 units were supplied by Apple, all of which quickly vanished off shelves. iPhone 5c models are still available, and fresh stocks of the 5c are expected to be available from Wednesday.

I get a chuckle when the analysts automatically say that people in India are too poor to afford iPhones. It shows analysts’ utter contempt for the consumers of India. It also indicates that most analysts think all Indians are only willing to buy cheap Android junk and live happily ever after. I was looking over some India websites and commenters were saying how consumers were definitely lining up to buy iPhones and they were glad to get them. I realize that iPhones are relatively expensive compared to what most Indian consumers make, but there have to be some educated consumers who really do want to own an iPhone.
