Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Pro family may use more efficient displays and feature improved thermal efficiency. They will seemingly also pack bigger batteries to deliver long battery life.

The information comes from a Chinese leaker known for his accurate iPhone-related leaks in the past.

Higher peak sustained brightness

Leaks surrounding the iPhone 17 Pro’s display so far have focused on Apple using an anti-reflective coating for the cover display. This would help drastically reduce reflections for a better viewing experience. But apparently that’s not the only display upgrade the iPhone 17 Pro will pack.

The phone will sustain high brightness levels in direct sunlight for longer periods. And if Apple uses an anti-reflective cover glass on the iPhone 17 Pro, it could translate into a noticeable real-world upgrade.

In a post on Weibo, Chinese leaker Instant Digital also says that the iPhone 17 Pro will provide a more stable gaming experience with fewer frame drops under sustained load.

These improvements point to the phone shipping with a more efficient display, chip and a superior cooling system. Similarly, the phone will seemingly not overheat when shooting 4K 60fps video in the scorching sun. One rumor claims only the iPhone 17 Pro Max will get the upgraded cooling system, which will use a combination of a vapor chamber and graphite sheets.

Longer battery life

Apple will supposedly also focus on efficiency with the iPhone 17 Pro. Both models will purportedly pack bigger batteries, with the Pro Max breaching the 5,000mAh barrier. And coupled with more efficient components, the phones should deliver the longest battery life ever for an iPhone.

The iPhone 16e currently holds the crown for delivering the longest battery life on an iPhone. This is thanks to Apple’s super-efficient C1 modem, which consumes about 25% less power. But this comes at the expense of missing mmWave connectivity.

Apple will unveil the iPhone 17 lineup at its “Awe dropping” event on September 9. So, we won’t have to wait long to learn more about the improvements the new iPhones will pack.
