After last week’s iPhone 17 color revelations, fresh component leaks suggest Apple might introduce its boldest iPhone Pro color yet, come September. This time, camera lens covers reveal a potential brand-new copper-orange finish that would mark a significant departure from the company’s traditional Pro palette. The other possible colors are black, gray, silver and a dark blue that harkens back to iPhone 15 Pro’s most striking hue.

iPhone 17 Pro colors: 5 options, including cool new copper-orange

Industry insider Sonny Dickson recently shared images of lens covers purportedly for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models expected at Apple’s September event. The images showcase five distinct color options that hint at Apple’s plans for this fall’s premium lineup. The leak reveals the expected black, gray, silver, and dark blue finishes, but the orange component, possibly just for the Pro Max model, is something new. This follows last week’s reveal of five iPhone 17 colors and four iPhone 17 Air colors.

Expanding the Pro color palette: 5 colors

The presence of five color options means a notable expansion from Apple’s typical four-color approach for Pro models. This broader selection suggests the company may be responding to consumer demand for more diverse premium options while maintaining the sophisticated aesthetic that defines the Pro line.

The orange lens cover appears to indicate what industry observers describe as a copper-toned finish rather than a bright, consumer-focused orange. This deeper, more refined shade would align with Apple’s established preference for darker, more professional colors in its Pro models while still offering something distinctly new.

Return of fan-favorite blue

Among the other revealed colors, the dark blue option should cause some excitement. It suggests Apple may bring back the popular Blue Titanium finish that was exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro series. That color proved highly popular among users before being discontinued with the iPhone 16 Pro lineup.

The traditional black, gray and silver options likely correspond to updated versions of the current Black Titanium, Natural Titanium and White Titanium finishes. That maintains continuity with Apple’s existing color philosophy while incorporating new materials and manufacturing processes.

Material changes may influence final appearance

Apple’s rumored shift from titanium to aluminum for certain components in the iPhone 17 Pro models could significantly impact how these colors ultimately appear. The different material properties may result in varied light reflection, texture and overall visual presentation compared to current titanium finishes.

This potential material change comes as Apple continues to refine its manufacturing processes and potentially reduce costs while maintaining the premium feel that Pro customers expect. The aluminum integration could also affect durability and wireless charging capabilities. But specific details remain unclear.

Authenticity and timing considerations

Dickson has a strong track record of accurately predicting Apple color options and design changes through component leaks. But the authenticity of these particular images remains unconfirmed. Apple’s final color decisions often evolve throughout the development process. And some options shown in early leaks may not reach production.

The component leak follows recent revelations about the standard iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air color options, suggesting Apple is taking a more vibrant approach across its entire 2025 lineup. The base iPhone 17 is expected to offer lighter, more playful colors including light blue, green and purple options.

Market positioning and consumer appeal

The potential copper-orange option would represent Apple’s most adventurous Pro color choice in recent years. That could appeal to users who want premium features without the conservative color constraints typically associated with Pro models. This balance between professional capability and personal expression could help Apple attract new customers to its highest-tier products.

The expanded color palette may also reflect Apple’s confidence in the iPhone 17 Pro’s other improvements, allowing the company to take more design risks while delivering substantial technological advances. This approach could differentiate Apple’s offerings in an increasingly competitive premium smartphone market.
