Apple has confirmed that its super-sized iPad Pro tablet will be available to order online Wednesday, with stocks available in retail stores from the end of this week.

More than 40 countries will be covered by the launch, including the United States, Canada, China and much of Europe. Apple will start selling accessories for the iPad Pro at the same time, with the Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard available for $99 and $169 respectively.

The iPad Pro itself will cost customers $799 for a base-model 32GB WiFi version, while a WiFi/Cellular version with 128GB will set you back $1,079.

It’s not yet clear what kind of availability the iPad Pro will have. According to supply chain sources, Apple has taken a “rather conservative attitude” toward orders, with just 2.5 million units likely to enter the retail store bloodstream by the end of 2015. Follow-up orders for early 2016 might be even less than this.

Some rumors have suggested that constrained supplies of the iPad Pro may have something to do with panel shortage on the supply side, rather than a lack of consumer interest.

ABSOULTELY I’LL BUY THE NEW iPad Pro. I would have purchased it the day they announced it. I’ll keep my Air and have the Pro too. Don’t be silly!

I don’t own a tablet and my seven-year old MacBook Pro still works but needs to be replaced. I can’t decide whether I should buy an iPad Pro or a new MacBook Pro. Tough decisions. I’m mainly going to be browsing the web or viewing videos, so I could definitely get by with the iPad Pro and a Smart Keyboard. I don’t have any use for a Pencil.

I think getting a new Macbook Pro would make the most since for you wouldn’t have to worry about regretting not being able to do something on a tablet later (but by the sound of it, it seems like a regular iPad Air would do you well)

Do not get an iPad over a new Macbook Pro, you’ll regret it. My iPad is good for surfing the net, reading occasionally and a little casual gaming, but everything else is infinitely easier on my MB Pro. Even something as simple as transferring photos from a camera, etc and any media editing is a nightmare on an iPad.

Until it runs something more akin to OSX, I see the pro as being a huge failure. Its just a bigger more expensive iPad with more ram, and iPads are only useful for media consumption. I have an air and I love it, but its not a workhorse and the pro running just iOS will be no different.
